These PSN hackers can go to hell.
johnnysoftwareApr 30, 2011
Most likely they will get years, not dollars.

maybe, credit fraud is a huge problem that goes widley unpunished. The real loosers are the victims of fraud.
Case and point. My mothers wallet was stolen, and someone was going around using her id. Of course to closed all of her accounts, and went directly to the authorities but the problems didnt stop. She couldnt drive as the DMV would not issue her another id until it was resolved, and she had to deal with countless creditors demanding money as a result of a slew of bounced checks.
As a funny side note she was sued by Wallmart for one of those checks. She demanded to see the video of the transaction so she could show it was related to fraud and to see if the clerk actually asked to verify the check against her id. The clerk did check, but the fact that my mother blond haired/ blue eyed and women purchasing the goods was black didnt seem to phase her. WTF.

I can't believe they only wanted $100,000?! With the amount of info that was stolen, I would pictured a much higher number...

For months GamingForever has been running multiple accounts to push garabge stories on various social media websites like digg and reddit. Recently
this same guy was banned from reddit, you can check that out here:
http://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/gepnl/gamepro_g4tv_and_vgchartz_gamrfeed_have_been/
As you can probably see hes been spamming with 20 odd accounts on reddit before he was busted open.
This became a huge incident which resulted in to gamepro, vgchartz and g4tv being banned on reddit.
The same unfortunately is happening on digg as well.
He's been gaming digg with multiple accounts which I found out (probably could be more, if the digg staff cares to find about this):
His primary account: http://digg.com/gamingforever
The spammy Gamepro account: http://digg.com/GamePro
For vgchartz hes been using multiple accounts:
http://digg.com/tadj
http://digg.com/gukingofheart
As you can see all of these accounts are used for submitting the same websites.
Also these profiles have zero comments and zero diggs on digg.com which means they have been created just to game the system. Who knows he must be burying submissions from other websites so that these garbage websites could front page on digg.com
Now there is nothing wrong with a user submitting the same website on digg.com but the point here is that this guy is using multiple accounts to game and earn money from these so called "mainstream" media.
You can check the gaming page on digg, its infested with gamepro and vgchartz stories: http://digg.com/news/gaming/media/recent
Digg please completely ban these accounts, I'd say they've proven themselves more than worthy of that. If that doesn't happen, everyone, please bury any submissions from these accounts with extreme prejudice. They've been heavily abusing the system for months, and don't deserve any more traffic from digg.

R.I.P. Sony

Why would anyone pay a ransom for digital data that can be copied an infinite number of times?
I'm not Einstein, but that doesn't seem very logical.
tmossbossApr 30, 2011
so glad i got my xbox 360
uzair21May 4, 2011
and how would they have gone about taking the money? I call BS.

100,000 dollars to sony to resolve their companys security image.... DONE lolz
diggid3Apr 30, 2011
So they are traced - please inform me where to line-up for the lynchmob.
bogie4646Apr 30, 2011
I think that whoever was making this demand wasn't even dealing with the actual hackers. Because if the true hackers had this credit card data (which they might have) they could get away with much more than $100,000.

Cheap deal !!
breakspiritApr 30, 2011
Every single story on this subject cites the same Trend Micro guy. If you read the stuff he read, it's clear that people are taking it far away from the facts. Read this:
http://www.computerworld.com/s/article/9216308/Did_hackers_really_get_credit_card_numbers_from_Sony_?taxonomyId=18
Bury this digg story for being more FUD. Even the guy they're citing thinks its bulls**t sensationalism.

Now the DHS is getting involved. This takes it to a whole other level.
