gamasutra.com— A new bill proposed in Oklahoma seeks to add an extra 1 percent tax on "all violent games" -- a measure that the Entertainment Software Association has described as "patently unconstitutional."

It could be an option if you wanted it to be. People have the power to control the future of their politicians, but they are either too lazy to do anything about it, or aiding in the further corruption of the present.
Oklahoma gamers are going to be screwed since most games are violent to some extent. No worries though. This would be smacked down in the Supreme Court. You can't tax violence but you can violently tax.
Even more dumb than taxing soft drinks or fast food. So why not a tax on Starbucks and other fancy coffee places? Or Whole Foods? Wrong constituency, I guess, and Warren Buffett wouldn't approve.
I hope your being sarcastic....If not, then whose fault is it? Gamers? Game developers? So we are the ones who have to deal with the consequences of poor parenting? How does that make sense? If you ever seen a video game there is content rating on them. Violent games have a 17+ for mature content rating on them. Parents who buy these games for children under 17 are at fault here. If anything there are more violent shows and moves on TV then on video games (at times). I dont see how fair it is to pay more for a violent game. Lets start taxing on certain music... Why not? Start taxing more on violet shows.. oh how about every time parents fight in front of their children, lets tax them too!!
Yeah, because most people on the internet take the time to "quote" words that are also used in the title of the video game for no good reason.
Also needing to be taxed for psychological violence to children, the Petz series. Not to mention the confusion it's causing to their grammar and spelling skills.

More bright ideas from local politicians. Can we just tax stupid politicians instead?

Can you imagine if that was an option? ;)

But of course

We'd be able to pay off the national debt in days and have plenty of extra cash to play with.

If we are to create such a world... why would we still need politicians?

How about we tax people who can't prove that they've invested in 30 minutes of cardio 3x a week.
PanjeeFeb 3, 2012
That's only going to affect 99% of the gaming market!

At first they try to kill every game with any violent content, and when that fails, the put 1 percent extra tax??

Finally. Those Imagine games need to cost more. I can't "imagine" how much psychological damage they've done to millions of children.

Wow. Totally being sarcastic. I also believe people who can't tell sarcasm and satire from serious comments should be taxed higher as well.

expect more such craziness from state legislatures as state governments begin looking for sources of additional revenue.
