Why is he bald? And why is his eyes closed? I kept waiting for his eyes to open. I'm guessing they went for male because of the facial hair, but I'd much rather see a female head.
This is a silly question. As hardware gets more powerful obviously games will be able to be photorealistic in their renderings of characters and environments.
Hehe, cute. What you are referring to is the 'Uncanny Valley'.
And the 'soul' has nothing to do with proper subsurface scattering, highly accurate modeling of the lacrimal papilla area of the face, high frame rate, etc.
To be honest, I'm not even crazy about these new video games coming out. The point of playing a video game is to get away from reality in my opinion. I don't wish to look at a regular human being while I'm playing a game. If I want to see people on my screen, I'll go to the movies.

Yes, games will look like the head of a slightly chubby white guy and blurry background.

The clip is actual gameplay footage from the upcoming Moby: The Video Game.

So the acting, lip syncing, and animation will be stiff and ruin the illusion? Great.

Who cares about gameplay? Let's just videotape our life and play it online. Pile of s**t...

Unless they really plan to use a real people in making one.

Graphics seem about on par with the SNES, but the gameplay doesn't look nearly as fun.

They'll never get the eyes right. Until you can replicate the soul in code they'll never be right.
