Deus Ex didn't NEED to be revolutionary though, it just needed to be a great game, and it did that. I've seen far too many sequels stray from the things that made the original great, and I'm glad Deus Ex didn't try to be revolutionary at the expense of a solid game play experience.
Yea, no, that is bulls**t. The guy just didn't get the moral, social, and political questions asked by the game. They were more subtle and less in your face, but they were there. Here is another review that explains that pretty well:
And yes, in many respects Deus Ex 3 is not as revolutionary as 1. That's not at all surprising, since it has been more than ten years since 1 came out. But it is still a game head and shoulders above many others.

I thought Human Revolution was quite entertaining.
The author went waay down the rabbit hole with his critique. The whole comparison to the V series was completely lost on me.

I love Human Revolution, one of the best games this year.

I really loved parts of this game. The hacking mini-game is great. The style is great. The RPG elements are fun, but I haven't finished it.
