And like The Expendables, we're going to have to suspend a lot of reason and logic to accept it after all this time. We're going to have to convince ourselves we like it for what it isn't, as opposed to liking it for what it could have been back in the day.
Super Mario 64 II (N64)
Sonic Xtreme (Saturn)
Air NiGHTS (Saturn)
True Fantasy Live Online (Xbox)
Kameo 2 (360)
Deja Vu 2 (NES)
Socks the Cat Rocks the Hill (SNES/Genesis)
A Boy and his Blob remake (DS)
I would love to see a MMORPG type game where its basically a re-creation of The Cannonball Run, but based on 3D roads and highways models.
Three types of players.
1) The cops. (Attempt to force cars to stop when caught speeding).
2) The drivers. (Disobey all laws in order to get from NY to LA in record time).
3) Hitchhikers (theres always idiots who use any game as a giant chat interface. In the game these are trolls, meant to distract cops from arresting you, or prevent you from crossing the finish line).
Race from coast to coast in real time. Each car has at least 3 players to handle different driving shifts. Switch players? Gotta pull to the side of the road, which you risk being arrested if you are violating road highway laws.
After a while the game begins to get boring, which is why they need to make mini-games based on other hollywood car chases.
1) Blues Brothers drive to the Cook County Assessors Office (pretty much a solo game)
2) Speed (how long can you drive before the bus explodes, how many cars can you destroy. Other players would attempt to stop the bus and kill everyone).
3) The Chase (solo game, drive from LA to the Mexican border, with guest voice Henry Rollins!).
4) The Road Warrior (deliver oil without being pulled over, you drive, friends assist in defending the tanker, or you be the thugs trying to steal the oil tanker)
5) Raiders of the Lost Arc (deliver the arc of the covenant to the hanger, you drive, friends assist in defending the truck. Or... you be the nazi's trying to force the truck to stop).
Aside from a few scenes from some James Bond movies, id love to re-create the Blues Brother scene in video game format.
I have no idea what your post has to do with canceled games except that this idea will never see the light of release, but I agree and dugg you anyway.
I want to see an FPS where you're on the US/Mexico border and you can play the Mexican army, white supremacists, drug cartels, local PD, Border Patrol or just unarmed civilians.
There can only be one true number one, and it's djWHEAT's #1 "pick" from Epileptic Gaming episode 22's top 10 count down of "games you'll never see". OBVIOUSLY NSFW!
Thrill Kill was still distributed unfinished and unpublished unofficially. The build SUCKED.
Warcraft Adventures? Seriously? The idea got laughed out of existence.... I laughed at the notion and I enjoy point and click adventures.
Starcraft Ghost underwent so many radical changes to really make any real accurate judgment on. I don't think the game was ever near half way completion.
I loved Duke 3d... but I think the production for Duke Forever slumbered too long. Duke 3D was great for its excellent run and gun gameplay with (back then) unheard of stage interactivity. Those elements are more the norm these days. Duke Forever's builds seem to not offer anything new to the arena. I'll probably get it if it ever sees the light of day... but all and all this entry was obligatory.
Long story short, this article is LAME and the writer is speaking out of his ass.
I remember some time back, I think when the series just finished, there was going to be a MMORPG set in the Babylon 5 universe. I remember reading articles about it. I still think it would be a great idea. :-)
Reading about Thrill Kill reminds me of a game called The New Creed (I think) which was meant to be a 2D fighter with 3D models, like Killer Instinct, which was supposed to have some "amazing" new implementations for a fighting game, like not being able to get backed into a corner, because the screen would just keep going and going. That's all I remember. It was scrapped. Genesis/MegaDrive I think.
"However, there are rumors floating around that 2K Games has put Gearbox in charge of finishing the title, and that it could be released soon, with a playable demo available as soon as September."
Okay, it appears that if I go directly to the page, it works.
I followed the digg link, which took me to the page, with the
digg bar, and that is when it wouldn't work.
What would happen is that the page would load, just for a few
seconds, and then an add would come up, and the page would
shrink.
The gameplay from that third person shooter mod for Starcraft 2 looks better than
the shots from Ghost. Perhaps Blizzard could release the game, as a mod for SC2?
Maximum Surge - It was a live action starring Yasmine Bleeth.
This should have had a double never to see the light of day as they failed to release it as a game they turned it in to a movie. Sadly the movie was released but was not very good.
I can think of some games that released but should have stayed in development. Pretty easy call on many of the MMO releases like Tabula Rasa, Warhammer, and others.
All of those games will come out eventually. Given enough time for the licenses to be sold off or even fall in to public domain, some one will realize how much money is in those names. I wouldn't be surprised if Blizzard is still quietly working on Ghost, if only just to play around with the idea of Starcraft MMO controls/engine/gameplay. Plus Duke will be made by SOMEONE at SOMEPOINT, because it's Duke f**king Nukem forever. Everyone in the industry knows that that game will sell only because some studio finally broke the curse and put it on shelves (or perhaps by that point, made it available for digital download in to our brains)
yeah, I know, I've got it emulated on my computer atm, but I would prefer to have a copy that I could play in my DS without having to buy a slot 1 supercard...
I played Thrill Kill. It was pretty horrible, even for the time. Horrible as in not good. Sure, it was violent, but the controls were horrible and the engine was sloppy.

Duke Nukem Forever has strategically waited enough time for gamers to care again, much like The Expendables. Timing is everything.
