I've been doing that for 4 years on the Wii. Granted the BIG improvements came last year with WM+ support, but this year's they tuned it to the point where you can miss the ball on the tee.

I think that would be cool too. But don't underestimate the amount of space that is required to swing a club. I would feel uneasy swinging a club with 10' foot ceilings(many ceilings are only 8') It just is not practical for most consumers.

The game is horrible. It's next to impossible to consistently hit a decent shot. And good luck hitting more than 5 yards out of the rough or the sand. I mean, sure, the game does some cool stuff with motion controls (real-time detection of how open or closed the club face is), but it becomes unruly when you want to actually play the game. Maybe if the Wii remote was an actual golf club things would be different. But as it is, I sold the game after 4 days of trying to play it.

This is kind of what I am afraid of. I am terrible at golf but loved to play Tiger Woods when it was on the XBox just by flicking the control sticks, less physical coordination and more dexterous finger coordination.

Just like the real game of golf, it takes time and effort. Although I'd played golf since my high school days, captained the team at Yale and qualified twice for the Open during the 80's (FYI, Fuzzy is a heck of a sportsman), it took me the better part of a month to get myself past the duffer point.
I had the opportunity to preview the latest version of the game and the club control afforded in this version is heads and shoulders above what it use to be. I'll probably shave 4 or 5 strokes off.

This is the best golf game on any console! When I turned on all the advance settings and true swing and saw that my real life right to left ball path was in the game I was amazed. Even for my other golfing buddies; All our natural ball paths are exact in this game so I need to play the course like I would in real life. Also it doesn't make the round tooo much harder. I was still able to post a 68 on 18 holes without yardage markers or fly-bys. My real life scores are 100-110. So I'm FAR from good.
