holy s**t. imagine if the real movies were of this quality
futuredinosaurAug 9, 2010
But when they do end up being fan-made quality, everyone hates it
example: Tekken http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWVTLLPwaQc
If it's made only for the internet, then everyone approves
There's no way low budget movies like these will succeed in the theatre, many of us are conditioned to a higher standard of quality

Thanks for the original link to the authors who actually made this.
It's funny how 1 person dugg you down... Looks like someone prefers to watch this video on a site that steals content, rehosts it in lower quality and surrounds it by talking ads and popups.
ashura001Aug 9, 2010
Holy crap, they had one of the directors from Top Gear working on this with them? No wonder it's so good looking!
mcrumillerAug 9, 2010
Thanks for the direct link. Quick tip for everyone in the future: Add &fmt=xx to put a direct link to higher qualities:
&fmt=18 -> 480p
&fmt=22 -> 720p
&fmt=38 -> 1080p
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2ZXSzaUIBQ&fmt=37 Enjoy!

Wow, looks much more awesome in HD. Dugg for the MUSIC.
larssonk22Aug 9, 2010
The composer is Patrick Gill, you can hear the full length fight theme called "Ryu Fights Back" on Joey Ansah's website - http://www.joeyansah.com/
We're hoping to get the other tracks Patrick composed onto itunes, so keep your eye out.

Comment bookmark for later. Thanks for the proper link!
path411Aug 9, 2010
Mostly with using noscript, youtube links are much nicer instead of having to play 'guess the domain' to enable to have the video play.
aquapeteAug 9, 2010
this was way better than Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li. They should hire this kid to make the next movie.

what details? generic angles, generic moves, are you comparing them to something at all?

They even nailed their stances.
dhessAug 9, 2010
Just watch Ken's legs/feet after he knocks down Ryu the first time. Perfect. Utterly perfect.
schwab002Aug 9, 2010
That's what really got me at the beginning of the fight. They got that and several of the moves close to perfect.

Fans always crank out the best material on limited funds while Hollywood drops millions and creates garbage.
What an exciting era of film we live in.
c4strifeAug 9, 2010
I jizzed....
hayesti86Aug 9, 2010
Why "mind boggling"? The title is the only mind boggling thing here.
jasdarAug 9, 2010
Yeah, mind-bottling. You know, when things are so crazy it gets your thoughts all trapped, like in a bottle?

Urgh, I don't know why you had to bury my comment. "mind boggling" means confusing, surely it should have been "mind blowing".

Ryu was not white and scrawny, and ken didnt look like he was wearing a mop on his head, but besides that 2 thumbs up!
sneschalmersAug 9, 2010
The guy playing Ryu is Jon Foo, who's half Chinese and half Irish. He was in the Tekken movie that came out recently, which was surprisingly decent from an action standpoint.
justice700Aug 9, 2010
i stand corrected! i retract my previous statement, please digg me back up!
kitymajereAug 9, 2010
Fan made films rock. The fan knows what the fans want, not like some huge big budget corporation trying maximize profits for personal gain. Thus watering down the true story and character persona so that the general audience will accept it.
I just wish fans had more money to undertake a full length film. I'm sure one comes out and makes it big, a lot more will follow.
blackchrispAug 9, 2010
I wish I could sponsor these guys for a full version. :(
shinyamatoAug 9, 2010
And after that, Ryu got to try the car bonus level: http://digg.com/d31Lvzh

When did Ryu start wearing cross training shoes?
ascensionritesAug 9, 2010
Probably when he started cross training.
gilbesAug 9, 2010
This looks better than the Mega Man fan movie, which was monumental on 2 counts:
1. It was a complete full length movie.
2. The story kind of made some sense while being rooted in the shallow back story of Mega Man.
The acting, and effects weren't great. But you could tell they tried and it was worth the effort and worth watching if you like campy low budget movies that would never get made any other way.
ffandmmfanAug 9, 2010
Link to said Mega Man movie?

More proof that in Hollywood you fail upwards...
Keep up the good work fans -- Keep making Hollywood look even less relevant.
yage2006Aug 9, 2010
That was better then all the street fighter live action movies combined.

Tom Cruise is that you?

This just in -- Tom Cruise can't fly...

greatsunjesterAug 9, 2010
That was my initial thought, too. Dispelled when the Ken in the film was shown to not be wearing platform shoes.
beatbotAug 9, 2010
Not new, and once the super cheesy hadoken came out to play this video completely fell apart. The epic slow mo kick at the end looked like they would just both not even make it to the other one and land 3 or so feet apart.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
skinturtleAug 9, 2010
shut up would you please? Where's all your movie making skills?
silentspyderAug 9, 2010
that was my first reaction but comparing to the sf movies it's still good.
sgxyayAug 9, 2010
Also, they really cut through those first group of epic nature journey shots really fast for some reason.
I agree with your criticisms, but it was still a very impressive fan movie.
barasawaAug 9, 2010
What idiot superimposed one set of hardcoded subtitles over top of a different set?
You should move your subtitle display location so the appropriate one can be read by the viewer.
And if you're subtitling software can't do that, either you have a really cheap one (you can get them for free that do that and everything else just fine), or you haven't read the instructions, or are to lazy to do it right.
I also hate any moron that puts white subtitles on movies that have lots of white or light color scenery. (That wasn't done here, but as long as I'm complaining about jerks that shouldn't be allowed to subtitle stuff...)

Is "Legacy" going to be the new catch word for movie titles?
socalcoveAug 9, 2010
If Legacy means more quality stuff like this Street Fighter Legacy? Then i can deal with it. Let me get the popcorn, I need another 117 minutes of this Street Fighter Legacy. Please hurry and make more!
monodedeAug 9, 2010
Lol I like your movie title.
philbertAug 9, 2010
I saw this a few months ago, very impressive work
kylescousinAug 9, 2010
Why is this viewed on some amateur popup infested s**tblog? This video was stolen shameless, just like all the other content this spam blog has.
The original video in higher quality, where this was stolen from: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2ZXSzaUIBQ
So sick of these content thieves and popup spammers.
mhugginsAug 9, 2010
I like the part where they play footsie at the end.

caughtthinkingAug 9, 2010
Better than the professionally made street fighter movies released to the public.
sonofabeAug 9, 2010
This was on the front page a couple months ago, but I'll skip the complaints - stuff like this needs all the promotion/awareness it can get.
diceauAug 9, 2010
Agreed, that was far better than all the Street Fighter movies ... I wanna see a full story!
prodigitalsonAug 9, 2010
Needs more Akuma. But still full of teh awesome.
blackwing602Aug 9, 2010
What does that mean, 'fan made?'
The VFX were done by a fairly large company named in the credits
larssonk22Aug 9, 2010
It was a fan (Joey Ansah) that wrote it and directed it. He unlike most fans has the connections to add the finished polish to it
midnightsnackAug 9, 2010
3 minutes long and better than Street Fighter: The Movie and Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li
skinturtleAug 9, 2010
AWEsome!..as in "AW We want SOME more!"
Did you see what I did there?
reallynotnickAug 9, 2010
Anyone else notice their final kick had basically no forward momentum? Just the way they took off was awkward as they basically stopped and jumped straight up. I suppose they both didn't want to jump kick into each other.
None the less awesome.
larssonk22Aug 9, 2010
They actually do jump into each other, it's just so slowed down that it looks like they will never collide. If you watch their featurette designing the fights, you will see a lot of behind the scenes training sessions.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
evildeadashAug 9, 2010
Needs more steroids.
larssonk22Aug 9, 2010
This is alpha era, so they are skinner than their SF2 counter parts
