I'm glad the end of Mega Man made the cut, I never understood why a robot would appreciate long, quiet walks in the woods.
worktruckJul 10, 2010
Well, I never really contemplated it much as a kid, but my take on it as an 8 year old wasn't he's walking through seasons. Basically I got that he would continue on until everything is right and once that day came he would put down his hat and go back to his normal life. I mean think about it the game opens with him on top of a skyscraper no helmet and once you hit start boom the helmet pops on time to go fight.
mmusickJul 9, 2010
I never liked the one I always got: "Game Over."
crackshot91Jul 10, 2010
Dugg for sucking at video games on digg.
slasherJul 9, 2010
Silent Hill - always one big WTF
vtbarreraJul 9, 2010
I always concluded that Eternal Sonata's ending, like much of the game, warranted one big WTF.
mrscotchboyJul 9, 2010
Assassin's Creed 2 goes a little to far...the ending is all a bit much...keep it simple stupid :P
affectJul 10, 2010
Not even. One of the best endings ever. When you first discovered the truth in AC1, it was great.
kufurexJul 9, 2010
I rarely have the patience to get to the endings. I guess that saves me from the irrational ones.
pitchblack16Jul 9, 2010
Alternate title "10 Games I No Longer Have to Play"
nikolesmashJul 9, 2010
Good call on Assassin's Creed 2, that made no sense. Like breaking the 4th wall no-sense.
killerbearsJul 10, 2010
If you managed to find all the hidden glyphs and watched the video, it's pretty heavily hinted that other beings from the past are involved in all of this. It's not like there wasn't magic and supernatural stuff all over the series, anyway; it made a lot of sense, IMO. I love the story in Assassin's Creed.
meribianJul 10, 2010
So does Jade Raymond suck the whole thing or does she stop halfway?
massoukenbombJul 9, 2010
F.E.A.R. 2 deserves the #1 spot, I think. How can you top ghost rape?
goweigusJul 10, 2010
i play tested that game back in october at their studio
i wasn't sure i understood what happened at the end
haha
mikefJul 9, 2010
"Thank You Mario, But Our Princess Is In Another Castle"
FFFFFUUUUU

I'm legally insane because of that...

0260Jul 9, 2010
I should stop calling myself a gamer coz I never played any of those games
mojo8472Jul 9, 2010
Personally, I loved the whole 'glyph' sub-story in Assassins Creed 2. Maybe it's the conspiracy theorist in me!
daviz0Jul 10, 2010
assassins creed 2 was the first game in a long time where I had to check the internet for answers, those damn code wheels! even when I knew the answer I did not understand why it was the answer
mykillkJul 9, 2010
I thought the Borderlands ending was horrible. The game was all about getting into the Vault, and then when you kill the boss guarding the entrance to the Vault, the game ends! WTF!?!
endrianJul 10, 2010
That /is/ what's inside the Vault. The boss. The gigantic abomination. Your job was just to make sure it didn't fully escape and then seal the Vault once it was forced back inside. That's all. There was no treasure to be found, just an unholy abomination that had been sealed up for the umpteenth time. That's why there were all those flying things trying to keep you from getting there; they were trying to keep the monster sealed up from those who would unintentionally free it thinking they were about to find treasure.
I thought it was a good twist, honestly.
clonedJul 10, 2010
The vault is a lie.
grabateJul 9, 2010
Knights of the Old Republic 2. It's not even an ending.
zoocougJul 10, 2010
I was thinking the same thing about KOTOR 2. I was so disappointed when the game just freaked on me at the end.
thisisntjonJul 10, 2010
Monkey Island 2 was supposed to end that way as Tim Shaffer wanted an ending so that nobody could take his place and continue the series...
Unfortunately, it didn't work.
neondistractionJul 10, 2010
Yeah KOTOR 2 felt like it was either rushed through production or written by a schizophrenic. There was an interesting story in there somewhere, but the telling of it was so jerky and convoluted it never got a chance to shine. If only Bioware had developed it instead of subbing it out to Obsidian... they damn sure know how to weave a narrative.
nmanguyJul 9, 2010
Damn, that is a REALLY misleading title. I thought it was going to be the endings of games like System Shock, Freedom Force, and Bioshock.
thegreatsamJul 10, 2010
I thought Bioshock had a halfway decent ending (the "good" path at least)
cyrixJul 10, 2010
Would you kindly......
specimen7Jul 9, 2010
I've played Silent hill 1, 2,3 and 4 about 50 times each and I can never get the joke endings =/
Closed AccountJul 9, 2010
Goldman from House of the Dead 2 was pretty...irrational...based on his voice actor he might have been in the "special" classes, so A for effort Goldman, you'll get the world next time I'm sure:
http://www.frequency.com/video/house-of-dead-2/156649
palehorse864Jul 10, 2010
Goldman was secretly Kermit The Frog.
To protect the loyfe cycle.
This is the finlll ba'lle
aFixedetourJul 9, 2010
This reminds me of FFVI ... the whole 2nd half of the game applied to this.
warp120Jul 9, 2010
The Matrix: Path of Neo. Now THAT was a terrible ending. It includes a lame cameo from the Wachowskis, an interesting but not very fun final boss and one of the worst uses of Queen music ever. And this was a game touted at the time for having a radical and amazing new ending for the matrix trilogy. I guess thats what I get for believing those hacks again...
number23Jul 9, 2010
No MGS2?
libertyprimeJul 11, 2010
The ending was fairly straight forward even if the story that connects the games together is irrational.
joejitsuJul 10, 2010
Deus Ex II. All the endings were bad endings, except the hidden one.
kassiu5Jul 10, 2010
A i see the title i thought of assassin creed 2 ending, so yeah i have to dugg it cause it has a spot in the list.
codenamepenrynJul 10, 2010
Spoiler: Dumbledore dies!
sniperhareJul 10, 2010
The only game I played on that list was Assassin's Creed 2.
overlord555Jul 10, 2010
That zombie sex was aight. Anyone seen Deadgirl?
fuzzynyankoJul 10, 2010
I never saw that guy again in Quest for Glory IV, even though the 4th game was a masterpiece
sloachJul 10, 2010
I'm a massive fan of Quest for Glory, and I don't really understand what this article was talking about.
Ad Avis was Katrina's slave in IV.
From http://questforglory.wikia.com/wiki/Ad_Avis
At the very end of Wages of War, as the hero stands triumphant alongside his allies, he is swept away by an all-encompassing field of dark magic. In a cliffhangar scene for Shadows of Darkness, Ad Avis and his robed master are seen watching the hero menacingly through a crystal ball.
In the fourth game, Ad Avis has been resurrected as a vampire in Mordavia. The Hero learns that, years ago, Katrina defeated Ad Avis in a duel and then bit him. Ad Avis was infected by her vampire bite, and so, after he was killed by the Hero, he became a nosferatu in Katrina's service.
bruceleelennonJul 10, 2010
Anyone else thought this article was about the company Irrational Games and their endings?
rudegarJul 10, 2010
console only really
neondistractionJul 10, 2010
Except for the first game on the list, AC2, which was released on the PC. Kinda hard to overlook that one too, since there was a big deal made about Ubisoft's draconian anti-piracy measures they implemented for the PC release.
Aso, FEAR 2 was released on PC.
petethepandaJul 10, 2010
Assassin's Creed 2? Seriously? Dude, the ending is one of the best parts of the game. Jesus, if a game doesn't wrap up things in a 100% clear-cut way and answer everything, many gamers can't seem to wrap their heads around it... people beg for better stories in games, but bitch when they finally get something interesting. Same goes for Alan Wake's ending.
salculdJul 10, 2010
Why, specifically, did they pick on Suikoden 3 for that one? That's how ALL of them end, and, in fact, a great deal of quick summary sentences for the cast do end up being expanded upon in later (or, depending on how you want to utilize your verb tense with respect to chronology, earlier) entries in the series.
mrj777Jul 10, 2010
There is a serious lack of the strange ass Metal Gear Solid endings.
sndreamJul 10, 2010
The original F.E.A.R. ending is crap too.
startsomething7Jul 10, 2010
I liked god of war 3
the ending

yomoskaJul 10, 2010
The FEAR 2 one kind of makes more sense as you play the game. The girl goes from scary skinny bitch that pops out trying to scare you, to hot scary bitch that wants to attract you so you make babies with her.
dtiberi13Jul 10, 2010
Bad Dudes for the NES. "Hey Dudes Thanks, for rescuing me. Let's go for a burger.... Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!" That ending makes complete sense.
meribianJul 10, 2010
At the end of Turok: Dinosaur Hunter, the human final boss inexplicably blows up and so does the building you're in...you run away from an explosion and jump into water and watch it blow up more and that's it. A retarded ending for a really fun game..
antdudeJul 10, 2010
I thought this was about Irrational's games: http://irrationalgames.com/ ... :P
openended7Jul 12, 2010
Portal anyone? a singing robot?
