Hell yea. Most of the Trauma Studios crew are now apart of Kaos Studios under THQ. They did Frontlines: Fuel of War. The game kicks ass, check it out if you haven't yet.

I mean DotA from warcraft, and Icefrog and his team did a rather large amount of Modding to the game. They created many new units, items, etc.

The biggest difference is that in Empire and Napoleon you can't do anything to the map files. The mod community for the other games massively expanded the vanilla map by adding new territories, or narrowly focused on particular regions, etc etc. But since that seems to be the full extent of what the developers for the actual game are willing to do in between major releases (see napoleon, and esp. warpath) they haven't released that feature to the community.As such, mods are currently limited to things like unlocking the main faction, altering unit skins, and AI alterations.

Yeah I still remember all the great mods Desert Combat, EOD and deathrace was fun as hell it was to bad it never took off both the killing and the stunt modes where fun as hell.

Dug article for Desert Combat. I actually still have that loaded on my PC (DCF). Still hop on from time to time.The game is still alive, but dying.DAGL still has servers up.

Kinda surprised that "Lil' a" from all of the famous Counter-Strike Source zombie mods is not in there somewhere. Although I have only seen a few of his maps, they are by far the most popular zombie maps in CS:S. I'll bet I could start up the game right now and count no less than 200 servers running his maps. And this is on a game that came out 6 years ago.

Console players don't make the games, it is the "innovators" you speak of that are harming the modding scene
