Well the middle finger has always been offensive in America far as I know. It means "F*ck You." Also it's called, giving someone the bird or flipping someone the bird. I'm not sure if it has any different meanings in other countries.

I was more offended by her ugly face and complete lack of talent. These plastic pop stars that think they are rappers make me sick. Manaj is just as bad. She looks like she was made in lab splicing whore DNA with some kind of space monkey.

The bigger question is when did the world become overrun with prudes?

In the US, just about everything is offensive to someone; remember the "wardrobe incident" from a few years ago? It's just noise.

It feels like the media is trying to make outrage our new national pastime.
jonahsullivanFeb 7, 2012
ridiculous and hypocritical moral outrage is as american as hating everyone who looks or acts differently than i do and fearing whatever cnn says i should be afraid of!

Fingers, hands, body are things that can and do create a form of speech--I direct you to the American Sign Language page. The Middle Finger is a derogatory comment about a person or thing. So if you study some more, you will recognize that there is more than the mouth that talks.

"It's one of the most ancient insult gestures known," says anthropologist Desmond Morris."
