Dear Disney: put a little money aside to hire the right people this time. Especially the writers and the concept artists. Or better still, I'll come down there for absolutely free and tell you how to do it.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
dirtyfriesJan 13, 2011
Concept artists? Are you mad? This looked great and it retained the look of the original while still updating it.
warpfieldJan 13, 2011
Oh look -- they made gravity work upside down for ten seconds. Gosh, how imaginative.
Tron is not about updating. It's about being wholly original. It's about having an experience that leaves you saying WTF over and over hours after leaving the theatre, in a good way.
The movie has "don't take a risk" and "consensus management" written all over it. It's a failure of the imagination. There are so many good ideas available that there's no excuse for this crap.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

Dude you went to watch a sequel that, in and of itself, should have keyed you in on how much originality you should have expected.
Fill this report out and email it to the studio and I'm sure they'll get back to you as soon as possible

I don't think that phrase means what you think it means.

The movie looked great.
It's only weakness was the plot, but that could be extended back to the original one as well.
There aren't TOO many ways to make being physically sucked into a computer any less high flying than it already is.

I knew it!
downdownbabyJan 13, 2011
That was all it was missing - better scripting. It had a killer soundtrack and incredible visuals.
immediateactionJan 13, 2011
It's not necessarily happening, but it's probable. Still, I'd be more than happy to watch another Tron movie in a couple of years. Despite what some people say, Legacy was far from a horrible movie. Granted it lacked somewhat in the philosophy department (but it had massive potential to excel in that area) but it was a GREAT action movie. The actors were more than fine, the Dude was great, his son was good and Olivia Wilde was good AND incredibly hot. I enjoyed it. End of line.
mochan4242Jan 13, 2011
Of course it is.
daoneJan 13, 2011
Why does this feel similar to those wishing for a sequel to "Serenity"? Or as brown-coats go "want my big dam trilogy". I'd feel more confident this article is factual if Disney Studios themselves posted that their will indeed be a motion picture sequel to Tron Legacy.
mochan4242Jan 13, 2011
Yeah I agree with you there. I don't actually wish for one...I just kind of knew it would happen since Disney loves sequels.

Tron: Legacy? More like Flynn: Legacy, amirite?
vtrac2010Jan 13, 2011
The new Tron was pretty good. Hopefully they don't mess up the sequel...

Well, if Aint-it-Cool-News says it's true... well, then, it's probably not.

Dillinger's son and the former CEO find it was Sam who uploaded their OS, find out about the Grid, and steal it as a revenge plot for what Flynn did to Dillinger's father and for taking back the company.
Hostile takeover of Encom, which nulls Alan Bradley's promotion as CEO, giving the reigns back to the former CEO and/or Dillinger's son. In an attempt to network the Grid as a product, they create security breaching programs which take over inside, alowing the networking to take place (also perhaps a Sark v2.0 or new MCP). Tron, being the newly-freed security program inside the Grid, is called back again, and it's up to him, along with Sam and Quorra (who've re-entered the computer world), to not only fight to protect the security of the Grid, but to recompile "Dude Flynn" and get him back into the real world so he can claim his rightful place as the owner of Encom.

Write this down somewhere and get it witnessed so that you can claim credit for the story line if it goes this way!
Truth be told, I had some similar ideas for a sequel based on what was left undone in the last one.
Given the christian religious undertones of the first flik, and the "eastern mysticism" in the 2nd, I wonder which way they'll go in #3? Subgenius?
shingoexJan 13, 2011
It was more of a creationism vs. evolution conflict. Whereas the programs looked up to Flynn as a "God" (user/creator), he made the comment about the ISOs, who essentially evolved on their own without any interference from him.
robbiev80Jan 13, 2011
That sounds awesome.

This has always been the best source for confirming sequels:
http://www.boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=tron2.htm
Budget: $170 million + marketing etc...
Worldwide: $292,918,954 in 26 days + DVD + Video Games etc...
Yes, there will be a sequel.
geroncoJan 13, 2011
Epic
rhawk187Jan 13, 2011
Here's what I want to see.
Remember how Cillian Murphy was in the movie for all of 5 minutes? They introduced him as a pretty bright fellow. I want him to make his own "Grid", and evil grid, and have it go to war with the good Grid. Might be thin on plot, again, but could be epic as all get out to watch.
llanceJan 13, 2011
I like the idea. I hope they don't screw it up too much.
goatmonkey2112Jan 13, 2011
You know exactly where they're going to go. CLU will get out into the real world somehow. I don't want to see that it will be bad. Just leave it as it is.

yesssss
smashhulkJan 13, 2011
This movie better have more action.
conquerorsaintJan 14, 2011
this is great news. im still on Tron legacy fever actually. been listening to the OST on repeat a few weeks now and watching the trailers and making of by Digital Domain incessantly.
i just wish they could've included the warping in of sam with updated effects (hopefully they can shoehorn this in the bluray). this was a glaring omission in the vein of them not showing superman transforming from clark kent in superman returns (just before airplane rescue).
hopefully bridges will still be in there in some form but not using the digital CLU face except on CLU himself since it's so blatantly fake and screams uncanny valley.
conquerorsaintJan 14, 2011
oh and more tanks! lightjets were ok but more lightcycles please!

Sweet can't wait I loved Legacy!
