Another resounding success story from Michael Bay!

The Transformers movies have been released in America during public holidays. So the reason its making cash is because its school kids who are going to see this. In that context its a 2hr 40 min babysitter whilst the parents can get some "me time".
Michael Bay; Babysitter.

The America public also gave George Bush eight years in the White House. Not the sharpest tools in the shed, but tools nonetheless.

Yes..because only your OPINIONS on entertainment are valid.
Those people who THINK they had a good time are so stupid!

Yeah, they pretty much are. Thanks for summing it up.

FTA: "On top of that, Transformers 3 is performing even better overseas than in the U.S. of A. — and it has yet to open in Transformers-loving Japan."

It seems like all the summer blockbusters are doing that. Looks like better distribution across the globe is definitely helping the studios' bottom lines. Yes, the lion's share comes from the U.S., but hundreds of millions from the "foreign" market is nothing to sneeze at. I'm surprised it's not all just all one market yet.

transformer is one of the best moie that i ever seen, especially the way they make a effect so great

Whatever, haters.
I liked the film. I enjoyed the many Easter Eggs for us Star Trek fans, too.
I think Heather Hunter Whatley is boring and unattractive, and her lips look like the practice dummy at a plastic surgery school, but it was a fun film.

And guess what - after Hollywood accounting there won't be a single buck of profit.
Did you know? The three Star Wars episodes didn't make a single buck! And they kept on making movies from the Star Wars universe!
Hell, if it doesn't work why don't they stop?
Or just maybe... they lied to the IRS and everyone - esp. the 'artists' they are sooo keen on protecting their profits.....

That is completely NOT what you were referencing.

Like shongoex said, citation needed. While there HAVE been cases of magical account to show little to no profits, Star Wars was not one of them, let alone all of them.

Try doing a bit more research.
http://blog.moviefone.com/2009/04/03/return-of-the-jedi-never-turned-a-profit/
It's a single claim about a single version of one of the movies, which is most likely either a misunderstanding, or an outright lie.
murxJul 6, 2011
And you absolutely believe it...
...that's the whole point about Hollywood accounting.
Btw. did you read the last paragraph of your own link?
It is highly unlikely that that single version didn't make profit either. Unless they did some accounting making the whole production cost of ROTJ count towards the special release too....
shingoexJul 6, 2011
So, you're basically admitting to being a troll?
murxJul 6, 2011
Oh yes, and it is so rare.. that they have it in wiki (with all the sources as usual)

I don't think many of the overseas people were registered to vote here last election. But thanks for charging off-topic with partisan nonsense, really makes for an entertaining thread.
