Heh and I nearly forgot about the worst part: this movie features Leonard Nimoy saying the line "The good of the many outweighs the good of the few". Except he used it as a justification for his character's evil actions, not in the context of selfless good ala Spock (the good of the one). I felt actually insulted by it.
rynak0Jul 1, 2011
Wasnt the line, "the needs of the many, outweigh the needs of the few"? As in the needs of more cybertronians/deceptacons outweigh that of the few autobots to have a home again.
mortixerJun 30, 2011
finally someone giving stupid movies that are filled with cg and no plot some guff. Visuals dont make a movie story acting good directing do.
vectorzJun 30, 2011
I don't agree. Not all of us want to go to the movies to see the same type of movie that has amazing acting and amazing plot with no visual eye candy. Some of us like diversity and once in a while we like to watch a movie that puts us on a spectacular visual roller coaster and makes us think very little so that we can just sit back and enjoy the ride. I'll take TF3 over "Men who stare at goats" any day.

You know, there's nothing wrong with a mindless action movie, but from what I understand (not that I've seen any of the movies myself), the biggest problem with the Transformers movies is that the giant f**king robots take a back stage to human characters who shouldn't even be in the movie. Yeah, no doubt, people want to see a movie about robots beating the s**t out of each other, but if that's the case, just focus on the robots - we don't need Shia LaDouche wasting our time.
vectorzJun 30, 2011
Don't worry, you get plenty of robots kicking ass in this movie.
dfletcherJun 30, 2011
Just saw it with my nephew. Hard to watch, nearly fell asleep several times, even during the most exciting action scenes.
The movie had John Malkovich and John Turturro and both of these people who are normally captivating and interesting were both bland and disinterested in this movie.
In the end, they acted like the good guys won, except that Chicago was completely trashed and emptied of people. Yeah, great "victory" there.
I blame the director. Hah that digg ad "Michael Bay's best work" is so completely wrong. Avoid with extreme prejudice.
user500Jun 30, 2011
"Michael Bay's best work" .
Now there is a low benchmark. It would be hard to do worse than any of his work to date.
0m1n0usJul 1, 2011
Lmao...the review probably said "It could've been Michael Bay's best work, if it didnt suck so hard". They love taking that s**t out of context anyways..
shingoexJun 30, 2011
"In the end, they acted like the good guys won, except that Chicago was completely trashed and emptied of people. Yeah, great "victory" there."
The Decepticons were destroyed, and the rest of the world was saved. I'd consider that a victory. Sure beats worldwide enslavement, and the assurance there would be more war and destruction if the Decepticons *did* win.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
pureeviljesterJun 30, 2011
Yes, it would've been better if an alien robot invasion didn't destroy anything and no one died. That's a real invasion!
dfletcherJun 30, 2011
Alien managed to be scary and tense and interesting without destroying Chicago :-P

Movie producers think that if they simply throw endless action at the watchers, they will be entertained like children staring at the screen. And in many cases they are right. Some people like movement and action and are transfixed by it, not discerning action from something worthwhile. Look around in the theater and you will see these people with mouths agape, all intently staring at the screen like zombies.
Raiders of the Lost Ark was famous for non-stop action with a variety of scenes, effects and noises, all conjured up to keep the watchers "on the edge of their seats". And it worked in that movie and the rest of the series.
It is very similar to entertaining children.

Reminds me of the Ass-movie from Idocracy...
skulczykJun 30, 2011
"There was a time when reading wasn't just for fags. And neither was writing. People wrote books and movies. Movies with stories, that made you care about whose ass it was and why it was farting. And I believe that time can come again!"
krustytclownJun 30, 2011
There was a time when you could use the word Fag and no one cared. Now it's lke saying N*gg*r.
vectorzJun 30, 2011
Considering how much money the last two made, what makes you think the producers were wrong?
krustytclownJun 30, 2011
I never listen to movie critics. I usually read the user reviews instead.
hermiodJul 1, 2011
My most recent experience with user reviews was with 'users' (who hadn't actually played the game) giving Portal 2, a genuine game of the year candidate, 1/10 scores for reasons that were nothing to do with the actual game.
krustytclownJul 1, 2011
I should have specified, for movies. For games not so much because there are to many fanboys that will mark down a game just because of it's platform.
frayedknotjeffJun 30, 2011
"based on Hasbro toys"
If you're looking for Shakespeare then you went to the wrong movie.
Let go and just enjoy the awesomeness.
worldgate989Jun 30, 2011
I hate Roger Ebert's reviews. Unless its a deep plot involving chicks and dudes falling in love and somehow making it work through some trying time in life he gives them negative reviews. f**k him.
vectorzJun 30, 2011
Beautifully said. Shakespeare would've been proud
particleman420Jul 1, 2011
not for $15+ per ticket i wont.
marthssbmJul 1, 2011
Michael Bay just stuffs all the action possible into a movie and thinks that that makes it good.

Transformers 3: merciless promotional assault on Digg
evildeadashJun 30, 2011
I'm hoping future Transformers movies are "Micheal Bay Free". He's a horrible director and his take on the Transformers universe is a disaster. Imagine a Transformers movie where the director actually cared about the material and didn't just want car porn.
Closed AccountJun 30, 2011
I couldnt watch Transformers 2. The CGI gave me a headache. So i am in no rush to see the third installment.
banderwockyJun 30, 2011
Stop spending money on stupid crap like this. Just download a torrent already.
krustytclownJun 30, 2011
That is stealing.
joepythonJun 30, 2011
No, it's copyright infringement. Completely different.
madleperJul 1, 2011
It's funny how many of the people who bash the Transformers movies can't wait to start up their torrents and snag a free copy.
Does not paying for it make it a better movie? Would you eat a crap sandwich if you could get it for free?
banderwockyJul 7, 2011
Actually I saw the first one in the theater. I haven't even bothered downloading the others as I thought the first was such crap.
But if I did go and download it via torrent or whatever, I'm voting with my dollar or lack of spend. Pretty much saying I'm not going to tolerate this kind of mindless garbage.
I take my movie experience way to seriously.
hawkstar90Jun 30, 2011
I was extremely disappointed, in the movie...
KipchakJun 30, 2011
I skipped out on the 2nd film and I think I will do that same for this one. Even if Megan Fox isn't in it, I still wouldn't even pirate this movie.
insomniax2Jun 30, 2011
It seems that I'm the only person who likes these movies. I'd pay the enterance fee just to hear the transforming sound at the start of the movie. Makes me feel like I'm 10 yrs old every time I hear it!
Closed AccountJun 30, 2011
that is the thing about transformers, green lantern and cars two. They were all made for 11 year old boys. If you go into them accepting that I get the feeling more people would leave the theater happy.
skulczykJun 30, 2011
Damn it, I was going to see it tomorrow... I still am, made plans with friends... crap, now I'm not looking forward to this.
user500Jun 30, 2011
Its a Michael Bay move, how could it not suck.
skulczykJun 30, 2011
True, it's not like I had high hopes... the second one suck so much. My favorite worst moments where: "I'm under the enemies' scrotum" and those 2 stereotypical Latino robots. People laughing in the theater and I'm looking around thinking: "Seriously? nobody is offended by this?".
jmathisb87Jun 30, 2011
The movie sucked, but no nobody is going to be offended. Not everything has to be politically correct. I guess everyone's voice should sound like a white person talking?
skulczykJul 1, 2011
There is a difference between a Latino and a black man talking and there stereotypical equivalents. I have Puerto Rican and black friends. Never in my life have I heard my black room mate come out of his room and say "Lordy, Lordy, what is I to do? I needs me some fried chicken and watermelon.". ... and if you make your characters in a movie act like that, that's racist and stereotypical.
jmathisb87Jul 1, 2011
You ever watched the Friday movies? same voice acting....
zbeastJun 30, 2011
I for one think it's the best out of the 3.. I even paid to see it in 3d.
which is something I usually don't do.
for someone who's still a kid at heart I think the film worked well.
He slowed the action down so you can see what's going on.
he dropped the motion blur down, do you can follow the action.
optimus prime is still dumb as a box of rocks but hay that's how he was
in the old cartoon.
I say go see it.. you'll like it.
Unless your just not a fan of giant talking robot car machines.
pureeviljesterJun 30, 2011
OK guys, this is a movie. You act like the transformers tv shows were a work of art. It was about robots fighting.
Humorless? It had good humor in the beginning. When it got serious the humor quieted down with little funny lines here or there. Good story with decent acting (I think there should have just been no female gf role) and a lot of action = blockbuster summer movie. Deal with it.
PS: Hate the 3D? watch it in 2D! (No there are no good movies in 3D, so don't try to say they could have done better like ______.)
vectorzJun 30, 2011
Avatar was pretty awesome 3d. But don't get me wrong, TF3's 3d was more amazing imo esp Cybertron
armandomJul 1, 2011
Good 3d movies might be the exception, but How to train your Dragon was pretty damn good in 3d.
mortixerJun 30, 2011
finally someone giving stupid movies that are filled with cg and no plot some guff. Visuals dont make a movie story acting good directing do.
vinnieadlerJun 30, 2011
i haven't seen the movie yet but reading the reviews make me want to not see it... 1 i think was ok, with 2... im not a fan of it... now with 3, im having 2nd thoughts of even watching it
worldgate989Jun 30, 2011
We get it, the transformer movies are horrible, yet people watch them anyways and sequels get made. I shall be seeing this movie regardless of the uppity people like ebert.
fantasticalguyarunJul 1, 2011
wow what amovie
dofruitJul 1, 2011
I silly enjoy this one.
charlierockJul 1, 2011
Now I kinda wanna see it...
skulczykJul 5, 2011
So I went to see it on Friday, in 3D and have to say that it was better then part 2, but that one was pure s**t.
My opinion is that the movie did away from character development. New robots just appear without explanation and where they where for the last 2 films.
They cut down on the plot and just do more explosions and fight scenes. The ending is rushed and they don't explain why things happened the way they did.
Plus, why is it always up the the few soldiers to fight the robots? Why can't the US army just blast them with nukes or send in some kind of a mechanized battalion group?
kezheekaJul 1, 2011
first one was good but second show that show me this movie getting worse ...
