I think drivers get worse every year. Here in Portland, I've noticed more and more people starting to drive below the speed limit for no reason. It's damn annoying. People drive like pussies these days.

They got it from Washintonians. They've been driving like that here for a long time, and they drive slow in the left lane. And what's with the stalled cars EVERYWHERE?

If you see something in the road that you wish to avoid, be it an obstacle in the road, or a stalled car for any reason, you will slow down to avoid it.

More than that, they are caused by 1) inability to merge onto highways effectively and 2) slow response time between when the car in front starts to accelerate, and the next car starts to accelerate. E.g. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Suugn-p5C1M

In Northern Virginia our slowness is also caused by half of the drivers being on the cell phone.
Another cause may be cultural. I see lots of Hispanics driving in the left lane ... at the speed limit.

Timid drivers are not defensive drivers. They are simply timid. Real defensive drivers drive at normal speeds, and don't cause waves in traffic - timid drivers drive too slow, take WAY TOO LONG to merge, and have other terrible driving habits that turn the other drivers around them insane.

If everyone would just stop driving like such pussies I'd get to work on time more often. Google tells me it takes 34 minutes to get to work so no one better tell me I should get up earlier then. I deserve my slumber goddamn it and I'm not going to get up 20 min earlier on account of some slow ass defensive punani drivers.

The only offensive drivers are the slow ones. They are angering everyone.
The aggressive drivers actually cause few problems because they know how to drive and are paying attention.
Note that obviously doesn't apply to aggressive insane drivers which include the category of drunk drivers and teenage males (I know, I was one). If you have a teenage boy I think you should take them to a driving school and the track until they at least learn control, and tell them you will kill them three times and destroy all possessions if you ever catch wind of them trying track stuff on the street.

No s**t sherlock. I can't recall how many times I've been stuck in a huge pack of vehicles on a three-lane wide highway, only to get to the front of the pack and pass the imbecile driving below the speed limit in the middle lane.
