It always infuriates me when baristas make me say grande instead of medium. I had a barista say "What?" every time I ordered from him when I asked for a medium latte. I mean, it's really not any hipper to say grande instead of medium.
I try to stay away from Starbucks, I prefer to go to the local coffee shops (they usually buy better quality espresso), but I find it worse in the local ones, as far as hipster baristas go.
Actually, someone making less than $8 probably doesn't pay much in federal income tax, after the standard deduction and 1 personal exemption. He more than likely fits in the 47% or whatever that pays 0 in federal income tax.
With that being said, he does pay other payroll taxes that is never included in that 47% number.
I'm not sure where you got that from. You asserted that he paid taxes, and I pointed out that by the definition that has been commonly used lately he does not. I then pointed out that that particular definition is really somewhat lacking. I never commented on the value of the gentleman in particular, nor stated that he's open to criticism.
Let's not forget that this actually isn't a real guy who works at starbucks. These photos are an attempt at a meme.
If he's working he pays taxes. Being a hipster doesn't mean he's not paying taxes, this is an inadmissible trait to assign to hipster. The common definition of hipster in no way means he would not pay taxes, so any point you were trying to make that in some way undermines his status as a tax paying citizen is therefore invalid and slanderous at best only to further fuel the idea that there's something wrong with him when there isn't.
People unnecessarily have bad opinions of "hipster" people, and this is why I criticized the meme by suggesting his citizenship as a working class member should be more than adequate for letting anyone with this particular label go un-uniformly criticized by people.
No, it's not that big of a deal to me. If you met me on the street I could really care less, but seeing as it's a public forum I've decided to say I think this "hipster" bashing is rather inane.

I was in a Stabucks just the other day, I really couldn't help but hate the customers who were hanging out there even more.

Almost as bad as his customers who pay $4 to $5 for their cup of over roasted fru fru coffee, thinking they are special and hip.
