Good. Leave the Alien series alone.
michaelpintoJan 18, 2011
Sadly good taste disqualifies one to work in Hollywood!
matt2011Jan 19, 2011
Yeah, that would be appropriate to say after alien and aliens were released...but theres been 3, 4 and 2 AvP movies and "Aliens" stock has KINDA taken a hit.
An aliens prequel by ridley scott, lets be honest here, could only really help.
rblancarteJan 18, 2011
I would say good, but not that it matters much - the series was completely wrecked in the last decade. Even films 3 and 4 leave a lot to be desired.
Fox couldn't help but nuke it from orbit.
duncan202Jan 18, 2011
3, while acknowledging faults, I actually like. 4 -- I can't quite decide. There's some coolness there, but for some reason it doesn't work completely. I mostly blame Winona Ryder.
petebob796Jan 19, 2011
Yeah Winona was rubbish in it. I like 4 but there a lot of story changes that annoy fans of the originals. I mean the whole DNA splicing thing is nothing like the originals, but then they have carried that on in the alien vs predator films.
goweigusJan 18, 2011
I'm ok with 4 because it had its scary moments and didn't feel like it was as much of a remake of a previous Alien movie was 3 did.
ryogaveeJan 19, 2011
Someday 3 will be remembered as the best of the series. Someday...
duncan202Jan 19, 2011
Perhaps. The only fault I find with 3 personally is the whole part where they're were trying to drive it into the mold... I get what they were doing, but the whole layout of the hallways and doors didn't make any sense to me, as to why it would be built that way.
ryogaveeJan 19, 2011
It was a prison if i remember correctly. In the event of a riot or lock down, they needed away to cordon off section of the facility. Heck, its 3000 years into the future. Maybe architects were trippin'. Or knew more than we do now.
rudegarJan 19, 2011
well it did start the aliens spawned from other then humanoids are not like those who are
which led the way to toys

guess we need the box office bombs too
dedtargetJan 18, 2011
I love the Alien movie series, and although I do admit there have been some stinkers, bombs, and flat out disappointments, I actually like this writer teaming up with Scott. Plus with the actress from GWDT (whom I have no problem Scott writing in more nude/almost nude scenes for) I think this one could be one of the few to make it out with more bang than flop.
That's just my opinion though, and I'll admit I am an Alien fanboy, so maybe my opinion shouldn't really count.
duncan202Jan 18, 2011
I've loved this franchise since Alien (don't like the Predator vs Aliens things soo much though).
But I have to say I don't actually care or want to know anything about the derelict ship or its pilot. I like the mystery the way it is. I wouldn't mind another dedicated Alien movie though (sans Predators)
squidvetJan 18, 2011
I'm glad Lindelof is on this project. I think these two will produce a good sci-fi suspenseful sci-fi movie that makes you think, which is something we rarely see anymore. Especially when set in the Alien universe. Alien 3 was okay. Resurrection was quite literally an abortion.
alsazenJan 18, 2011
I heard the movie is about a mega corporation trying to colonize an alien world, however there is an indigenous species that need to be removed first so they can build their terraformer, so they send in 'nice' guy to gain their trust but he ultimately gets to like them and ends up taking their side, helping the aliens fight back...
Ok, maybe I'm doing Ridley a disservice... but I certainly wouldn't put it past 20th Century Fox...
zebragrrlJan 19, 2011
I'm glad about this. While I'd like to see more about the "Alien" universe that doesn't center around the Aliens.. I think this is better. Much like it would be nice to revisit the world of Bladerunner.. both universes have such rich texture and opportunities for storytelling.. but in the end I think it's better to chart some new territory (terrortory?) and create a new universe in which to play (and hopefully a universe that is itself worthy of revisiting.)
sab0tageJan 19, 2011
So... It's a musical?
petebob796Jan 19, 2011
I have got a feeling if they would have left it as a prequel we would have ended up being the bad guys trying to terraform the alien homeworld or something like that.
greggoryturnbulJan 19, 2011
All you had to say was, Damon Lindelof wanted to make some changes to the script.. and I am sold.
waverlywaveJan 19, 2011
but why he changed the name?
jagoraykenJan 19, 2011
Sigourney Weaver really likes to be in movies about massive corporations screwing s**t up.
ljseinfeldJan 19, 2011
Well they do say that art imitates life.
karmashockJan 19, 2011
the problem with a new franchise is that the studios probably wont' fund it as well as an established franchise.
seems the only way to get hte big bucks is to make a part 2 of something that did well... I mean, look at the transformer money and every version of that movie has been awful and expensive.
duncan202Jan 19, 2011
Maybe that would be for the best. The first movie had a very modest budget. People sometimew make better movies when they don't fall back on effects and big actors.
avianeddyJan 19, 2011
im mixed
i was always curious to see what the deal with "the space jockey" was
rudegarJan 19, 2011
he's really tall looks odd so I don't think there would be too much interaction between his kind and humans
