YES you are right It sounds like the author is assuming that every superhero movie is and must be a ginormous blockbuster aimed at the lowest common denominator.

This post sucks. A couple of those guys are actually decent and deep characters. The Question for example is basically Rorschach from Watchmen, although slightly less psychotic. It would be a completely different movie from Batman - more of a psychological thriller than anything else. But it would be wrong to just dismiss the guy completely.
It sounds like the author is assuming that every superhero movie is and must be a ginormous blockbuster aimed at the lowest common denominator. These movies would certainly not be blockbusters that large since they would not appeal to teenage boys, but they could still make a lot of money - if written right.

Both Aztek and the Question are kickass. Aztek sacrificed himself to save THE FUTURE in the pages of JLA, and the Question was downright hilarious in the Justice League Unlimited episodes he appeared it. There's even compilations on YouTube of his most hilarious sayings.
While being tortured by the bad guys:
Bad Guy: "Tell us what you know!"
Question: "The hard parts at the end of shoelaces are called aglets...their true purpose is sinister..."
