Never, are you sure? You're using Digg 4, aren't you?
tbranch227Sep 6, 2010
LOL... so true. Sorry! I have been more underwhelmed.

Well the video definitely makes me want to learn more... I like that it will have applications and internet browsing unlike the new AppleTV.

its a good looking and working TV

I still don't get it. How does this integrate / communicate with my DVR (Tivo) ... if at all? How would it integrate with my DirecTV DVR? How does it "record" programs ... and where? Virtually all TV in the US (excluding OTA network) require a cable box, cable card (and TV/device to use it), or satellite receiver. Where does this fit in?
Those are all serious questions ... I'm not "ripping" this device before I get to REALLY see and use it. But ... I'm a smart guy and pretty technically savvy ... and I still don't see it (even after seeing different video reviews of it online). My best GUESS is this is really just overlaying a nice clean Google designed interface to enable access to web services ... and the really integration into my TV "ecosystem" will be fraught with frustration and incompatibility.
The only way Google is going to make anything of consequence is if they make a Google DVR that takes cable cards (ala Tivo).Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

It connects in via API's to control your devices. It tells your dvr to record the program. It searches you dish network.

dead site is f**king dead

I don't get it. Half that demo is bringing up web pages. Why would I want to view a web page on my TV? I'm hoping there are some better uses for Google TV than this because the concept seems pretty cool.
tbranch227Sep 6, 2010
exactly isn't that ahhhmmmaaazzzzingg! It's junk. I was hoping for so much more.
persiyanSep 6, 2010
I think the whole point of it was to bring web content to your TV, so that's what it does, I don't understand what you were expecting and what your expectations were based on?!
jaxon77Sep 6, 2010
WTF is up with engadget always making the front page
impayneSep 6, 2010
hmm, I prefer to watch TV on my computer instead of using some computer functions on my TV...
BroadwayseoSep 6, 2010
google tv on the new bravia makes people envious.
stab_amineSep 6, 2010
I suppose it were just a bigger screen connected to my laptop...
impayneSep 6, 2010
so true
freezerburn666Sep 6, 2010
here's the thing.. you get a computer... then you get a tv.. then you get this f**kin crazy thing called a cable, and put one end in the computer and the other in the tv.

I'm really looking forward to getting to play with Google TV, it looks like a cool concept. I just hope it makes it to the UK!
aggiemarine07Sep 6, 2010
why doesnt sony implement this new technology/OS into the PS3? if they did that then they would increase their PS3 sales even more, not to mention the Android OS is much more leaner than the XMB OS. maybe one day....
richardplentySep 6, 2010
Most of what I see here is already in the PS3 or I have something that already provides the feature like DVR. Really nothing new here, all these features have been around for years, My experience has been the tv is a lousy place to view the internet.
