hmmmm... not a bad idea
chrisblauFeb 13, 2011
yeah not bad.. not great.. 30 Rock and Parks and Rec are still superior shows these days.
jexusFeb 13, 2011
Are you f**king joking right now??? 30 Rock is garbage and is confusing to new viewers, Parks and Rec BARELY made the cut to stay on for another season.
Facts are Facts: The Office is on top, when Steve Carell leaves Community will be the big show of the night.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
bikesandtacosFeb 13, 2011
Actually 2 and a half men is on top right now. And that show factually blows.
30Rock is confusing to new viewers cause it requires actual thinking. The Office is just spoon fed drivel.
bluebirdgmFeb 12, 2011
Nah. Even though the bossy prick character that Arnett is sure to bring in is going to be slightly different from the socially inept Michael Scott, the real direction they should go in is someone who is competent and sympathetic but who's not above letting the zany characters make fools of themselves around him. Giving Darryl (Craig Robinson) the big chair would be perfect in my book. Let's not give the job to an outsider.
bigtime2Feb 12, 2011
I'm not so sure about Darryl. He is cool and everything, but he could never be hated and loved as much as Michael. The reason that everyone likes/hates Michael is for his childish everything. Darryl, on the other hand, is a really cool guy and could never be as stupid as Michael.
bluebirdgmFeb 13, 2011
But my point is, do we really want a Michael clone? That would only lead most to draw unfair comparisons and complaints about how Michael 2 is an inferior copy of the original. It's far better for the show to undergo a major shift in character dynamics, and having someone decidedly UNlike Michael would be the first step.
jexusFeb 13, 2011
Dwight would be a good new manager.
bigtime2Feb 13, 2011
That is a good point too. That may work
weirddemonFeb 13, 2011
tl;dr - After watching every season of The Office, I realized I skipped most of Michael Scott's parts and all the other characters are what the made the show enjoyable for me.
Long part:
-------------------------
Whoever they pick, I just hope it's better than Steve Carell playing Michael Scott.
Ever since The Office was first released, I avoided it like the play. I saw plenty of commercials for it and thought it was the dumbest thing to happen to television.
Then, while moving to a new job, I stayed in a hotel and found that there was nothing on but The Office. I watched one episode and immediately fell in love with the show. Funny how these things work out.
The episode I saw was sometime in Season 6, so once I got settled in my new place, I immediately watched season 1 on Netflix and eventually watched all 6 seasons. Since season 7 isn't complete, it wasn't on Netflix, but that's hardly important.
Having watched pretty much every season, I went back every now and then and watched random episodes from random seasons while programming or writing up some documents, etc. Just to really have some noise in the room, I guess. I still watched the episodes of course, but I found that I was actually skipping over most of Michael Scott's parts. Sure there were parts where he was funny, but some of the really awkward stuff, I just skipped.
I also noticed that the most enjoyable parts of The Office, as a whole, was Jim and Pam's relationship, Dwight and Angela's, Dwight and Jim's interactions, Andy solo and Andy with Erin. I didn't really like Michael Scott's character too much and enjoyed pretty much everyone else's interactions a million times more.
booshtukkaFeb 13, 2011
Which play in particular did you avoid it like? Something by J. B. Priestley?
Or did you mean, "the plague"? :)
zirchxworldFeb 13, 2011
hahaha i was thinking the exact same thing. never seen someone type that before lol
weirddemonFeb 13, 2011
It was a mistype obviously, jerk. I was typing on my phone and the auto correct, corrected my misspelling of "plague" to "play"
zirchxworldFeb 14, 2011
i love how you call me a jerk lol. Duck You ;)
dirtyfriesFeb 12, 2011
I still think they should've saved Ricky Gervais for the last few minutes of the series finale, made him the replacement, and then end the series.
I liked the Office, but I think its time has come. Pam and Jim is way over and the other characters have been pretty tapped out.
Will Arnett is awesome, but every time I see him I want him to do a chicken dance and ride away on his Segway.
zirchxworldFeb 13, 2011
as sad as you just made me by that comment lol, I do agree. Michael is just the first one to leave but im sure everyone is getting a little tired of the same routine for yet another season. sure gabe and erin and daryl's promotion were interesting but overall the show has just gone a little stagnant. they are still in the same office doing the same comedy bits but with less charm. i think the show is no longer in its prime. what you guys think?
darkshroudFeb 13, 2011
What if he rode a Segway into the office then used it to get around the office?
captmonkeyFeb 13, 2011
I agree, sometimes you just need to finish a series and move on, even if you're still doing good in the ratings. While I like the Office, it's really gotten tired. They should go out on a good note, like the UK version of the Office or Seinfeld, and not fade into obscurity
m1911a1Feb 13, 2011
I still think that the show should have ended after season three. Not that there haven't been great episodes since, but once the the Jim/Pam situation resolved itself, the show lost a lot of its tension.
volaitle86Feb 12, 2011
YES GET HIM NOW!
serj730Feb 12, 2011
"Yeah, your gonna get the guy in the $4000 suit to replace Steve Carell?!? Come On!!!"
navilonFeb 12, 2011
amen :D
jwarkel09Feb 12, 2011
I wish I could favorite comments.
willthewayFeb 12, 2011
Just let the Office die.
rudegarFeb 12, 2011
yes no reason to drive all series into death in a sad way
quit when it appropriate
zirchxworldFeb 13, 2011
they all should take a lesson from Seinfeld.
bigtime2Feb 12, 2011
Tell that to businessmen who are doing it to make as much money as possible.
zirchxworldFeb 13, 2011
on the other hand, Arrested Development should have lived a little longer.
boucheFeb 12, 2011
I would vote for Will Arnett if the creators were able to write him in as G.O.B. The Bluths buy Dunder Mifflen and send G.O.B. to run the scranton office.
5urr3al5amFeb 12, 2011
they dont even need to buy the company.. he could be brought in as a long term temporary boss in the guise of a successful business consultant in the housing industry
bigtime2Feb 12, 2011
That means Arrested Development would be brought back. That would probably be a good idea.
escamotageFeb 12, 2011
The Office has gone from faux documentary humor, to s**tty sitcom humor without the audience.
This series needs to die quickly after Steve Carrell leaves.
philbertFeb 12, 2011
It should've died before that, I just lost interest after the first season or so. After the JIm / Pam wedding it really went down hill.
escamotageFeb 12, 2011
Agreed. I think after the 3-4 season it should have ended. Whenever it was when Jim and Pam finally decide to hook up.
rhawk187Feb 12, 2011
I've heard worse choices.
odkinFeb 12, 2011
Will Arnett is unfunny series suicide. Might as well hire Ted McGinley.
norman619Feb 12, 2011
Let the show die.
philbertFeb 12, 2011
I'd rather him stay on with Running Wilde, but I guess that isn't going to happen.
jcindeFeb 12, 2011
Tony Hale would be a better choice if you're looking at Arrested Development alums.
andy2naFeb 12, 2011
will arnett is great in "The increasingly poor decisions of todd margaret" only six episodes the first season, you guys should watch it
chadster1000Feb 12, 2011
This is one of the only TV shows I watch, I hope they make a choice that allows The Office to keep it's style.
chefgroovyFeb 12, 2011
Would they please pull the plug on this steaming pile of crap already.
crashingechelonFeb 12, 2011
FTA Plus, following the cancellation of "Arrested Development" and "Running Wilde," you'd have to conclude that Arnett is "sitcom poison.
I wouldn't consider him "sitcom poison". What did the shows in is that Fox doesn't know a good show when it bites them in the ass. Those two shows should have never been canceled! Heck I even enjoyed Sit Down, Shut Up. Mitch Hurwitz has some magic to his shows and I just hope he finally learned his lesson to never pitch to Fox.
geroncoFeb 12, 2011
Noooo, Ricky Gervais is the only one that can replace Michael
gloebeFeb 12, 2011
Him?
bamazombiepunchFeb 12, 2011
No, he has a movie to make.
Closed AccountFeb 12, 2011
If I am Arnett, I emphatically say NO THANK YOU. The Office is a sinking ship. It scraped the iceberg with the wedding and birth episodes last season, and when Carell leaves, the hull will split in half. So it is a lose situation for whoever replaces him. And you don't want to have three shows with bad ratings on your resume. He'll never work in TV again. And for those that saw Let's Go to Prison (which isn't many) we know he doesn' t have much of a movie career. So he will be stuck living off his Digger the Demaphrodite paychecks and being a househusband to Amy Poehler.
cryinlionFeb 12, 2011
NBC won't cancel it until people stop watching. it's still their #1 show, and to replace The Office would be conceding the one night a week that struggling network gets anybody to tune in.
Closed AccountFeb 12, 2011
I never really got into this show it seemed boring to me.
HTTP4O4Feb 12, 2011
An Abe Vigoda Twitter campaign should solve the problem.
mrmann14Feb 12, 2011
The guy from the show with 3 Emmy award in 3 seasons is going to be on The Office??? COME ON!
feeishFeb 13, 2011
OMG yes he would be perfect!
lvaneedeFeb 13, 2011
They need to end that show. It was good, but they have dragged in on for too long.
vinetariFeb 13, 2011
No,, just let it die. It was a good run but it's already jumping sharks left right and center
ajkumar24Feb 13, 2011
Yes!!! Even though Running Wilde didn't really "take off", Will Arnett is hilarious... I mean C'mon! That guy would be perfect!
mintOXFeb 13, 2011
NO
thudwhomperFeb 13, 2011
No. A thousand times no. Either let the show die or get Will Ferrell. Arnett is painful to watch when you consider he is supposed to be continuing the legacy of legends like Martin, Chase, Akroyd, Carvey, Myers, Hartman, Farley, Rock, etc. This is a guy who hasn't even developed a character funny enough or multi-dimensional enough to carry an entire movie yet. Bad move. Death of the series by suicide.
homerjaysimpsonFeb 13, 2011
No. I love the show but it just needs to end already.
felix45Feb 13, 2011
no, the office should just die already. Should have ended like 5 seasons ago really.
theregjoeFeb 13, 2011
the man in the 10,000 dollar suit!!!
theregjoeFeb 13, 2011
the man in the 10,000 dollar suit!!!
acetatedFeb 13, 2011
Will Arnett has my vote!
rudegarFeb 13, 2011
think about what would happen if the bible was a tv show
"Jesus's evil ½ Siamese twin brother wake up from coma and cause a racket sleeping with 2 disciples" :O
sometimes enough is enough
glimp7Feb 13, 2011
Yes!
tedsgameFeb 13, 2011
They will call it "Tricks -- let me finish -- around the office"
emopinataFeb 13, 2011
How about Ricky Gervais?
psychephageFeb 13, 2011
I vote for Patrick Stewart to be the permanently replaced boss. I mean... just think how awesome that would be!
grt1710Feb 13, 2011
I agree with psychephage!
