Good intentions only go so far. The fact of the matter is that, like racism, it will never go away until we just stop talking about it. Stuff like this only adds fuel to a bigot's fire, unfortunately.

Reminds me of the album titled "Our Label Is Run By Homos."

That's the band's name. Ah, Whitest Kids, so sad to see them go.
sloppyjoes7Apr 24, 2011
You're right. The name of the album was "No Seriously, all of us at the label are gay dudes. This is just our way of coming out."
oogeeApr 24, 2011
Beastie Boys "Licensed to Ill" was originally tilted "Don't be a gentlemen"
nikowolfApr 24, 2011
but they weren't gay. so what does that have to do with this?
oogeeMay 2, 2011
I suppose the point I was trying to make is that your mother has bum sex with barnyard animals.
nikowolfMay 2, 2011
i guess the point I'm trying to make is you're and idiot.
oogeeMay 3, 2011
Okay Dumbtard,
I'm an idiot? You're the one who needs the connection between the article and my comment spelled out.
I'll make it simple. Beastie Boys planned to title their first (mainstream) album "Don't be a gentlemen" the label rejected it, but presumably this title wouldn't have offended the hip-hop community. Lil B want's to call his first album "I'm Gay" and is receiving death threats. Obviously the hip-hop community hasn't changed their outlook on homosexuality.
I suppose if the Beastie Boys were calling their album "I'm a gentlemen" and got death threats you would have understood.
So, you're dumb.

ok here's why you're an idiot. beastie boys have always been known for being open minded so when they wanted to name their album "dont be a gentlemen" it wasn't meant to offend one group because they were doing things at that time to offend everyone... they did things like that on purpose. if your trying to make this more a political mindset that is why you're an idiot and you shouldn't say anything... you f**k..

Do some research f**ktard. No wait, I guess I'll do it for you since you are a vegetable.

"The Beastie Boys have recently apologised for their homophobia (the working title for their debut album, they said at the time, was Don't Be a gentlemen). Adam Horovitz wrote at the end of last year: "I would like to... formally apologise to the entire gay and lesbian community for the s**tty and ignorant things we said on our first record." Note, he does not apologise to any other minority, since there was no racial content, and misogyny (still!) doesn't count."
Beastie Boys apologized because the recognized they were WRONG. It wasn't '*duh* always doin tings like dat *duh*' like you suggest. Note that the author also points out that they did not apologize for the misogyny, even though they had a perfect opportunity right then. It's intolerance, plain and simple. Just the same as this Lil B is experiencing today.
On a separate note, I can continue this argument all day; I have nothing better to do. But you're in WAY over your head.

If you read the "article" and appreciate the rap genre, it's obvious that this is a publicity stunt that worked.
Being labeled a homosexual (in less kind terms) and receiving death "threats" is a rapper's badge of honor. It means that other rappers know who you are. This dude is so terrible, he had to call himself gay and wait for his friends to text him death threats.

I don't think "Homies over Hoe's is a sentiment that A Pimp Named Slickback can co-sign.

So saying you're gay means you're not gay. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
rudegarApr 24, 2011

That's why it's good not to write checks with your mouth that your ass can't handle.
