I've seen this movie (it was released in the UK awhile ago) and it's incredible. The art direction is very well done. It's almost like a Bill Hicks episode of Reading Rainbow, but with a ton of pics of Bill and his friends instead of illustrations from a story book.

Speaking of books, "Bill Hicks: Agent of Evolution" was written by many of Bill's friends and organized by arguably his best friend Kevin Booth. I believe it was only released in the UK, but is WELL worth ordering.

I learned from Bill that, "It's just a ride" and that has changed my life.

I've never really heard of the guy, but might go see this movie. I like comedians who don't just pander to one group and change their act

. Many just get by knowing they can tour across the country and in every state find people who will laugh at "white guys do this..black guys do this" or redneck jokes or anti-bush jokes.

Sadly that's one of the problems Bill faced in America - he was too controversial for anyone to handle. As a result he'd get buried in his own country (see Letterman). Over the drink, he had (has) a huge following.

I suspect proportionally more Brits have seen / know of Bill than Americans.

I think Bill Hicks was a funny dude. He makes me laugh . . . but why do we need to look at him for moral or intellectual guidance? He was a conspiracy whack-job and was pretty damn bad at asking decently focused and well reasoned questions. He was a f**king genius and making people laugh though. He was like a funny liberal version of Fox News. Sure he was an atheist, sure he promoted science and fighting against common knowledge, but in the end . . . can't he just be funny? The best comedians are both. Also, Bill was not an atheist from every account I have heard/read. He just had his own take on Christianity.
