Some people say the nation's demise is marked by burgeoning debt, corrupt politics or rampant corporate malfeasance.
I say it's marked by by the nation's preoccupation with people like this.

You may be right but, I think you are dead wrong. Among the terrible issues we face today, it's nice to have some entertainment in our lives. Otherwise we would be a nation of depressed individuals.

I'd argue that at least some of those terrible issues we've brought upon ourselves by focusing too much of our time and energy on the superficial. For instance, people who can't tell you who the Secretary of State or the House Speaker is can rattle off American Idol contestants.

you act like this is the first generation of humans to be preoccupied with pop stars. our impending decline has nothing to do with pop stars. it has to do with exporting all of our jobs to china. period.

You don't get it.

i get it every night bro. you obviously don't.

Hahaha....second cousins don't count.

First of all, I can tell you that the Speaker of the House is Rep. John Boehner and that the Secretary of State is Hillary Clinton. You're an idiot for thinking that just because someone enjoys popular culture or popular music they are vapid and don't know anything of worth. I own her two released albums and have pre-ordered her new album and got her new single Born This Way the day it was released, and I could probably tell you more about the dynamics of American politics than you know, you pretentious owl.
Second of all, Lady Gaga honestly has a lot of talent, she's worth paying attention to. She sings excellently, she plays her own instruments, she writes and arranges her own music and she stands up for her principles. She has an excellent message that a lot of people need to pay attention to; love yourself, love others and don't be ashamed of who you are.

That's great that you're one of the finite number of Americans who actually can walk and chew gum. But any "man on the street" interview segment will tell you that's the exception, not the rule.
But even though you're striding and chewing, you're still an idiot for not understanding that.
xxinsanityxxMar 26, 2011
You're still an idiot for assuming that popular culture somehow renders someone incapable of understanding more lofty concepts.
atomheartmotherMar 26, 2011
But I never did, So what does that make you?
JustinKlemMar 26, 2011
No more gaga, pleaaaaaase.
thelolfoxMar 26, 2011
Whether you appreciate gaga or not, Born This Way has such a great message to youth that are often bullied and outcast for being 'different'. It teaches that satisfaction with one's self comes from within, not from society and conforming to its norms.
Call her a freak, but know that what really sets her apart is what she's doing for teenagers living in turmoil.
prolikewhoaMar 26, 2011
I remember her saying this was going to be the song of the decade. Not quite. She likes it because she wrote it herself.
garryfieldsMar 26, 2011
There's something incongruent here...
But in all seriousness this is better than the original version.
ryebryeMar 26, 2011
I think Lady Gaga is having a hard time realizing that people are not paying as much attention to her now that she's not new anymore.
sotoninMar 26, 2011
Just because you use more "country" instruments does not make it a country song. Lady Gaga still sings it exactly the same as the other version. You can't sing country lady gaga, please stop.
