grammerpantsSep 4, 2010
Come back? Pearl Jam and Eddie Vedder never went away. Still one of the best live shows around, and going strong. Not to mention all the sound tract he has done.
npcabralSep 4, 2010
One of the most offensive comments i've ever seen on digg.
chriskzooSep 4, 2010
Well, anything representing actual music and no the s**t rap that is out there today would be welcome.
ultramagnus0001Sep 4, 2010
This here's a tale for all the fellas
Try to do what those ladies tell us
Get shot down cause you're over zealous
Play hard to get an females get jealous
and welcome to the 90s
psypher1Sep 4, 2010
Since it doesn't sound like you know all the different facets of rap out there (although I sympathize with your feeling of the main stream crap out there e.g. Soulja Boy!) It would be wise not to dismiss the genre since there are hip hop artists even from the 90's that incorporated real music, mostly underground artist and a few mainstream
gvoakesSep 4, 2010
I'm a huge fan of decade music
danbukkakeSep 4, 2010
I honestly think the new Pumpkins stuff isn't half bad. Definitely better than that auditory abortion Zeitgeist
npcabralSep 4, 2010
Airbourne gives me hope. Sometimes has an ACDC feel to it.
thehumanwillSep 4, 2010
This article is about grunge, yet it fails to mention Alice in Chains?
DO NOT WANT.
siffySep 4, 2010
Exactly! How can u not mention AiC!
thehumanwillSep 4, 2010
Or Mad Season!
handonamSep 4, 2010
nickelback sucks.
inkswampSep 4, 2010
No, it's not a good thing. I went through my teens and 20s in the 80s and 90s. The 80s was all about throwbacks and worshipping the past and the music largely sucked. The 90s was great because all that adoration of the past went out the window. I feel pretty lucky about having been there for it, but one of the things "grunge" bands did was refuse to put the past on a pedestal which is probably why they made so much good music. They weren't mired in nostalgia. My hope is that people in their 20s still enjoy the music that was created in the 90s but that they also angrily kick it to the curb and treat it like what it is: over.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

I love this revival... Backspacer is one of Pearl Jam's best albums yet (if not the best).
pigsbladderSep 4, 2010
gotta agree with you, I loved it.
thedeviltreeSep 4, 2010

GOD YES
Please 90's rock, come back, please we need you to kill this teeny bopper fake rap BS (kesha, beiber, ect) just as Nirvana killed boy bands before you.
Can we please go back to having popular songs that still use f**king guitars.
necrosynthesisSep 4, 2010
When I hear something comparable to Mad Season.....then we'll talk.
thehumanwillSep 4, 2010
HOLY S*** YES. YES. YES.
Mad Season is amazing. Layne is amazing.
:(
zenerdiodeSep 4, 2010
Ten + Jar of Flies + Superunknown >>> All Albums released in the last 5 years combined.
But then, I haven't adapted to the iTunes, singles-only world yet.

This article might have been more relevant were it not for the fact that current music is just f**king terrible. It'd be a lot easier to complain about failed attempts to rekindle that spark that existed back in the 90s were it not for the fact that there's nothing else going on right now. I would greatly appreciate someone making an attempt at a cheap imitation of something good in this current musical landscape. It's better than nothing.
parrappaSep 4, 2010
Oh look at me I'm an assh**e and all current music is terrible. I'm still living in the past.
/get off my lawn!
lordbeakerSep 4, 2010
Remember before the 90's and Grunge when concerts were big fun parties? Why the hell would we want that back? Keep the depression rolling folks.
kevitivitySep 4, 2010
It's better than hipsters with Ukuleles.
namesbondSep 4, 2010
How many good bands have come out since the 2000? Autolux not much else
corytrevorSep 4, 2010
Wolfmother
psypher1Sep 4, 2010
Sucks back nickle.......
hackiavelliSep 4, 2010
How the hell does 311 warrant a mention in an article about grunge (let alone a favorable one)?
slider121Sep 5, 2010
What, music without Autotune.
stockjonesSep 6, 2010
Its a lot better then 90% of the synthesized, looped, autotune crap you hear today. Do people actually write music anymore or do they just sit at a computer keyboard randomly creating beats and loops in ther fav software. A monkey can do that.
uncoverorSep 6, 2010
Everything 20 years old is new again. Every generation of thirtysomethings look back on their teen years with nostolgia. In the '70s, it was American Graffiti and Happy Days. In the '80s, there was a '60s craze. This will go one with every new generation, but musically, the 90s sucked.
popcornmonsterSep 6, 2010
I, for one, love much of the music from the 90s and I would love for that kind of music to make a comeback!
nowthatstrailerSep 11, 2010
Really glad Stone Temple Pilots and Soundgarden got back together.
snowprincess84Sep 12, 2010
We just need good music...
