I never even heard they were going to cancel. From the get go they said season 2 was green lighted.
limeparrotJul 31, 2011
Season 2 was green-lighted pretty much after the first episode was produced but I'm happy that "...the show will carry through to the end of the book series it is based on." I guess that part is new.

It is known.
dustinthewind2Jul 31, 2011
No one was saying it would be cancelled, but, most shows don't get the luxury of knowing their network is likely to keep them for 7+ seasons. This is incredible news for fans.

there is another article somewhere i found on facebook from the producers that says that "as long as Goerge Martin keeps writing the show will go on..." they have every intention of making the whole series! awesome
dustinthewind2Aug 1, 2011
That's in this article :P
“We told [author George R.R. Martin] we’d go as long as he keeps writing,” HBO co-president Richard Plepler said.
"I promise you we won’t stop it before it’s ready to stop," he said.

My favorite show on TV... when spring gets here. f**king love me some GoT!
limeparrotJul 31, 2011
Wait, there is such a thing as a HBO skeptic? I'm sorry, but when The Wire was performing poorly in terms of ratings and HBO decided to not cancel the show based on critical acclaim, and thus went on to finish what is most likely the greatest series of all time, they won my eternal respect.

People are still screaming over Deadwood (which got canceled mid-stride) & Rome (which got rushed at the end.) Both are awesome shows.
I'm sure there's other drama, but that's what I'm familiar with.
greatwhitmonkeyJul 31, 2011
Don't forget Carnival and Oz got a rush semi-ending.
ecwilsonazJul 30, 2011
This makes me happy.

I hope the HBO execs finish the show without George, when he still hasn't written the ending by the time the tv show catches up in 4 or 5 years.
After all, who could write two books in that amount of time. It's impossible, right George?
xwhyJul 31, 2011
They could always try to stretch two books over three seasons so they wouldn't be as rushed, or as truncated.
tedtschoppJul 31, 2011
The last two books should be the easiest of the series to write. There might be a few things in final book that will turn out to be hard to plot out, but at this point, after Dance, it looks like the chess board is setup and all the pieces are ready to be captued, turned, or removed from the board.

Arya will be the first pawn that can move backwards.

I believe the cat will replace the spider in kings landing by book 7
dustinthewind2Jul 31, 2011
Best books I've ever read, and the show could not have been done any better than it was. Very glad to hear we'll be seeing the entire series on HBO.
Now if they'd only do a pay-per-streaming version of HBO GO (without the HBO subscription, because cable and satellite are ripoffs).
