mediaite.com — If you just flipped over to Comedy Central to catch Stephen Colbert after a new episode of the Daily Show, you may have been surprised to catch Colbert talking about Herman Cain. Yes, there is a rerun of the show tonight, and it appears to be a new development, as those who had tickets to tonight's taping received word that, due to unforeseen reasons, the show will be off for at least the week.

“unforeseen circumstances.” - doesn't sound good. I hope he, his family and his staff are alright.
mcarlso6Feb 16, 2012
Apparently it's due to a family emergency

oh no

Publicity stunt. Otherwise they could stop for a week vacation (like these guys always do) without comment.
But instead? Some weird "unforseen circumstances"...whatever...Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

Dude, they already had had a week off, there's no reason for them to pull a publicity stunt. Either he/they pissed off a big wig, or something has happened to one of their/his loved ones. I would prefer if it was the former. If it's the latter, then i hope best wishes to them.

Colbert's "Super Pac" was a publicity stunt.
Going "off air" is not a publicity stunt for a show with tremendous ratings.

Hope you are in your lair devising a clever plan to take over the world, Stephen!
starmanjonesFeb 16, 2012
he's been going pretty strong for a long time. my guesses are exhaustion or republican death threats.
Ouzel7Feb 16, 2012
Oh come on.
davidg11Feb 16, 2012
Republican death threats....no...that's what liberals do.
Or glitter bombs....real bombs would require some backbone.
ericschc1Feb 16, 2012
I like how you pin the behavior of threatening death on liberals as though there isn't a library's worth of stories dedicated to conservatives doing it (Planned Parenthood assassinations, anyone?) & then go on to say how liberals lack the backbone to use real bombs on (i.e.: kill) anyone.
Tell me what that's like, not having a "logic filter" in your brain.

Colbert report Last night episode was awesome, It was unexpected to see one of my favorite singer Andrew Bird on Colbert Report, I got crazy when I'd seen his 1st performance. Guys you should watch his performance at least, if you didn't see this episode on regular time, catch it on http://xfinitytv.comcast.net/tv/Colbert-Report/94816/full-episodes

Stephen Colbert's mother is seriously ill.

I got bored of the show a year ago but I love that dude. Hope he is okay.
mbraynardFeb 16, 2012
Then where will the under-30 crowd get there news from?
lemonrindFeb 17, 2012

Publicity Stunt. Otherwise simply do what him and Jon Stewart do every 2 weeks...take a week vacation and put out no obscure press release.
icwydFeb 16, 2012
They are always in sync with TDS. When TDS is on break so is CR.
They just came back from a week off and did two shows. This does not appear to be a stunt.
