These are as violent as the original Hans Christian Anderson stories.

Was curious about your avatar so I clicked on your profile "A 3 year-old dude from Illinois (US) who joined Digg on December 15th, 2009"
LOL.

Repetition of Hell... AHHH!
bennisonAug 14, 2010
Those are badass.
thatsnomoon66Aug 14, 2010
I was a little wary to click on the link when you say it leads to Pink Tentacle... tentacles and Japanese usually don't mix well - or mix too well depending on how you look at it
caseycooldAug 14, 2010
Wow, actual bad guys. I wonder how that would have changed my childhood...
thenepentheAug 14, 2010
These are awesome! I would have loved this as a kid, along side with the art of "Scary Stories Before Bedtime." I ate this s**t up as a child.
basalcellbosskAug 14, 2010
I've been looking for a copy of this since forever.
laterthandawnAug 14, 2010
But wait...the ogre...his hand...I'm confused.
Left-as-right or not, these are awesome.
snottlebocketAug 14, 2010
There's rather a lot of japanese monsters that can stretch or detach their body parts to haunt or spy on their victims. The east has a plethora of awesomely strange creatures.
One of my favorites is a monster that takes on the guise of one of your family members of friends to lure you into the jungle. Once you're deep enough into the jungle it changes into this weird looking horse monster that nervously giggles while it keeps running you over, slapping you, turning you around in circles until you pass out or stop resisting it.
Then it just runs away, leaving you stranded in the jungle to die or find your way home.

I'm not terrified. A little gassy... but not terrified.

Lol evil caveman guy takes a time out from death and destruction for a game of baseball.
slackdragonAug 14, 2010
A lot of this reminds me of that cartoon Inuyasha. Plays on Adult Swim in the wee hours.
philbertAug 14, 2010
The English version on Adult Swim was awful, they pronounced every character's name wrong. Luckily Hulu is showing the entire series subbed.
jump4hAug 14, 2010
Basement cat?
misterchaseAug 14, 2010
So the Ceiling Cat is actually a Japanese monster?

I just had to comment about that ceiling ghost.
4 years ago I was doing a pilgrimage through rural Japan with a friend. We were refused shelter at a temple, but given a key to an abandoned house where we could sleep. At 2:30am we woke up simultaneously and to make a long story short, a long clump of black hair fell into my lap from the ceiling and a long clump of grey hair fell into my friends lap. We moved our mattresses away from the areas where it happened and as we were getting ready to go back to sleep, it happened again; black hair for me and grey hair for my friend. I searched for more than an hour trying to locate a hole, any hole, in the ceiling or wall which would explain the source of the hair. I couldnt find anything.
We both awoke to the sound of an old woman banging on the door and telling us that we couldnt be in that house, but she wouldnt say why. Later I found out that between 2 and 3 am is the "witching hour" in Japan.
There are more creepy details to the story Im leaving out because Im sure people dont care enough for the details, but that image of the ceiling ghost totally brought that night back for me.
gerogeroheyAug 15, 2010
Reminded me of some episodes of monkey magic.
