kcrokeJul 24, 2010
I agree with all the label's except christopher robin. can someone explain?
whythefaceJul 24, 2010
Maybe it's for imagining things that aren't really there...but not totally sure either.
jmurrzJul 24, 2010
Maybe it's for they ran out of ideas so they just picked a random disorder for him
stormcommanderJul 24, 2010
he talks to his stuffed animals i guess
exploit67Jul 24, 2010
doesn't ever little kid do that?
kaylamarie0820Jul 24, 2010
But look at how old he is.
johnnickJul 25, 2010
Talking to your stuffed animals is fine. His talk back and interact.
kageryuJul 24, 2010
Most people confuse schizophrenia with multiple personality disorder thanks to movies and tv shows using medical terms incorrectly. A person with schizophrenia suffers from delusions and hearing voices, etc. Christopher interacts with his stuffed animals and thinks they're alive.
I'd love to go the nearest Build-A-Bear workshop and pass copies of that picture around to little kids and make them ask their parents what those "big words" mean.
skankingmikeJul 24, 2010
@kageRyu, I think you're the one who is confused about Schizophrenia and DID (Dissociation Identity Disorder) Which in itself is highly debated topic.
Please reread what Schizophrenia isComment is buried, click here to see the rest.
kageryuJul 25, 2010
@Skankingmike,

virtualballJul 25, 2010
KageRyu is correct. We watched a video last year about an extreme case of Schizophrenia, which is scary s**t.
Watch and learn: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kvdw4b7tC-8
skankingmikeJul 25, 2010
Hi please read actual sites like
http://allpsych.com/journal/did.html They may in 1/3 cases hear voices however they are internal NOT external. Thus projecting their personalities is not part of DID.
Having alternate reality would be a schizophrenic. More sever ones will usually be incoherent to most people often rambling.
Please read DSM-IV and come back to tell me how exactly DID is anything like what this fictional character may have.
I have personal experience with this so please try to understand that when you claim that TV shows have falsified something understand that you yourself must be misunderstood.
Though I don't disagree with you on some of the portrayals.
s0nicfreakJul 24, 2010
You do know stuffed animals don't really talk, right?
crewbie4lifeJul 24, 2010
Sigh... Its called imagination. whatever...
antithesisviJul 24, 2010
The difference is when you're using your imagination, you know it's pretend. The brain of a schizo is unable to differentiate imagination from reality, so they think it's all real.
elperegrinoJul 24, 2010
aa milne based christopher robin on his son of the same name. said son grew up slightly f**ked by this.

Big Pharma has finally convinced us that no matter who we are or what we're like, there's a problem with us that can be fixed with a prescription.
defonosJul 24, 2010
Ya, and they do 'visits' with doctors and clinics to make sure their product sells. Suddenly everyone who feels slightly down has depression.
tyrghastJul 24, 2010
ADD is the biggest medical joke in history. Pill companies are laughing their way to the bank. Don't want to discipline your children? Give them riddalin.
crushifierJul 24, 2010
or, you know, their children could be having a hard time focusing in school and might be getting easily distracted and the parents realize that ADD medicine could be used as a tool to help cope with that.
Closed AccountJul 25, 2010
Or do the opposite and turn them into pill poppers at a young age.
drsolaceJul 25, 2010
@crushifier: It wouldn't have anything to do with the coursework, of course not. The school cirriculum is amazingly riveting and any normal child should be able to cope with such engaging material.
chronopublishJul 25, 2010
It is normal for kids to be antsy in a classroom setting and have trouble focusing. Medicating normal behavior is madness.
ayeroxorAug 1, 2010
Uniqueness is a malady which must be drugged away.
jstock23Jul 24, 2010
When characters are created, they often embody stereotypes to be immediately recognizable so the viewer has an easy time understanding their motivations. It also makes the creator's job easier because they are so predictable.
If you were a character in a book, you'd be the skinny kid living in the basement with acne that reads obscure alien magazines, talks very fast, and wears a tinfoil hat while he carries a handful of books to class. Perhaps you would even have red hair if the story was from the 70's. There, instantly recognizable stereotype.

Tech 52% of the US population has at least one mental based disorder (based on personality or genes like alcoholic) so technically the abnormal are the majority.
jump4hJul 25, 2010
yes, and as a result i refuse to believe i have lysdexia
nanohaJul 25, 2010
does this only exist in USA? where every dumb kid is medicated even their parents as well. Its like the pill companies/doctors got to together and made up these s**tty illness's/disorder.
Now a days you can just visit your doctor and make up something and they give you whatever drug thats associated with it and get high off of it..... Safest way to do drugs is to visit your doctor. While marijuana is a lot safer, the prescription drugs, dumbass kids are killing themselves over them, causes side effects include killing yourself, makes you think their controlling the population by killing them off slowly.
moviemaniac226Jul 25, 2010
You know what I'm starting to hate about Digg? Everyone's gotta complain about everything. Given any topic, there's about a 9 out of 10 chance that the top rated comment is someone's hollow lament on the government, a corporation, etc etc. It's rather depressing.
chileangodJul 25, 2010
I hate you people pointing out things like that!

bcrowlJul 25, 2010
It has always boggled my mind why you would want to give your children Amphetamines; one of the worst drugs in terms of devastation and addiction. Hell, if you can make meth out of it than it's probably not a good idea. I just hope these poor kids' minds can recover from this s**t. Stupid idea big pharm. Biggest controversy since the tobacco bulls**t.

When characters are created, they often embody stereotypes to be immediately recognizable so the viewer has an easy time understanding their motivations. Especially in stories for young children that need very different characters so that they do not all meld into one. It also makes the creator's job easier because they are so predictable, and a few vastly different characters can cover the range of personalities required for intricate storytelling.
The pot-shot on Christopher Robin is in poor taste, but hilariously fitting in context.

g8kprAug 5, 2010
I have seen many of them, my Daughter used to enjoy it when she was 1 or so. Now at 3, she's growing out of it. The first time we watched it, my wife and I looked at each other like "WTF is this?" then we got used to it and relaxed. We showed it to my SIL and she looked at us like "WTF are you subjecting my Niece too?"
The thing with night Garden that drives me insane the most, is the spacial differences with the Ninky Nonk and Pinky Ponk. They're big, they're small, with no explination.
