Thanks dude, i hate hulu, or whatever americans use
bigviAug 27, 2010
TDS and CR are no longer on Hulu. I guess they or Comedy Central as a whole got tired of them too.
lbuchaAug 24, 2010
This was a genius segment...
brettattackAug 24, 2010
Brilliant segment. Political guys like O'reilly lump him into celebrity status and not worth while listening to for political conversation or debate. Then again anyone on Fox News thinks no one is worth listening to on CNN (or anyone condoning CNN ala Jon Stewart).

STUPEVIL
Fox audience - STUPID
MSM - Yawn - Why can't real news agencies do stories like this one?
Keep em coming Daily Show
vitriolandangstAug 26, 2010
Stupidevil -- is a condition in which a persons clever greed overrides their sanity; as in, stealing the oar from another person on your own life raft, or perhaps, eating the last chicken on earth when it was about to lay some fertile eggs.
Yeah, it's really sad that the IMPORTANT points all get made on the Daily Show, and the News Media turns a blind eye to reality.
ebcreasonerAug 27, 2010
I voted for Stupevil.

It is an obvious and logical conclusion. Stop watching FUD Fox News

Its really sad that the most enlightening journalism in the US is found on Comedy Central.

I love every time Jon Stewart gets involved in this stuff. The conservatives never have him on because the man knows what he's talking about, he's not just a comedian reading a teleprompter. Jon needs to go debate some of these clowns.

I recommend watching the whole episode: from start to finish it was one of the best episodes of the Daily Show I have seen in a while.

Yes. I was laughing almost non-stop the whole time.

This should be required viewing for anybody who watches Fox.

Wow, a submission in the right category (television instead of politics) does a world of good to the level of discourse on the digg comments thread. (i.e. no wingnuts with more buries than diggs)

dawgmaAug 26, 2010
OK.. great story, but lets talk about the "New Digg" for the moment instead:
It looks as though Digg has absolutely betrayed their users with this latest update. The main issue is that in order to view UPCOMING STORIES (ie: recently submitted stories BEFORE they have 100's of diggs and are promoted to the Top News section) you are now required to "follow" particular user profiles in order to see any upcoming news stories. Having to pre-select user profiles to view and digg upcoming news completely defeats what Digg was all about.
You used to be able to see upcoming submissions from *any* user on this site. But now (if I understand this correctly) I can't browse any recently submitted stories (those stories with just 1 digg) unless I "follow" their profile first. I mean Holy s**t! From the very beginning Digg was all about random people finding random stories that random people submitted and digging the ones they liked. But now Digg is telling me I have to pre-select all of my upcoming news by choosing to follow particular users. What in the world made them think their users would embrace this idea?
Instead of being able to view a sea of submissions from ANY Digg user I am now forced to pick and choose the users that I want to see news from. The thing is... what I want is to see is the news from EVERYONE. By forcing us to follow user profiles Digg is just trying to expose it's users to the publishers, brands, advertisers and all people who represent the most value to Digg. Make no mistake... this update is meant to marginalize the random users who only get one or two promotions to the home page in their lifetime, and it's meant to force feed you the content from users and companies that help make Digg profitable. This new system totally discourages the "random user" from ever submitting new stories because they have very few followers to begin with!
It's not that I don't want to see stories submitted by the Telegraph or Time or Engaget or users like MrBabyMan... but I also want to know that ANYONE and EVERYONE has a chance to have their story seen by ANY user at ANY time. How the hell am I supposed to know which random user is going to submit the next story I'm interested in? I don't know! I've read a lot of upcoming stories that were great but never made it to the home page. I would NEVER have thought to follow those users in the first place.
Digg is LIMITING the amount and the type of content it's users can see and they are actually spinning it as though they have now given their users "a choice". A choice! I have BOOKMARKS for the content that I have already *chosen* to follow!! I come to Digg to find the random news that I don't expect to find with my bookmarks - and Digg has now removed the main feature that brought me to this site almost every day so that they could instead force me to view content that is more profitable for them.
-
(Note: Some people are confused, thinking that I am not aware of the Top News section. I am. I know I can go there to read stories by users that I do not "follow". However the point of my post is about the *upcoming* news section - recently submitted stories with 1 digg before they ever get to the Top News section. How do you think stories make it to the front page with 100's of diggs? You have to start digging them from somewhere... and now Digg has restircted that pool of new, upcoming stories to only the selected user profiles that you have chosen to follow)

moralimbecileAug 26, 2010
I only signed up for a digg account today, even though I've been following the site for years. I only did it to see the lovely light blue font on white background everyone has been raving about.
Your description of what digg used to be sounds interesting, yet very complex. I'm not sure if I could have handled that...
I also hear the old version didn't have this lovely light blue font on white background before.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

You should have seen Digg in the good ole days, before Digg was twitterized and bastardized. This new digg sucks. The color scheme is not pretty, it hurts my f**king eyes just typing this comment; I can barely even see what the f**k I'm typing!
http://www.old.digg.com PLEASE!!
I REALLY don't want to go to Reddit...
poonchowAug 26, 2010
Yeah, there's too much white space. Everything is in cool tones and it looks completely different on each computer I use (at school, home, laptop, etc.) Not to mention it just seems harder to find things...
uselesstriviaAug 26, 2010
People just hate change. They'll probably fix the design issues with the Upcoming section based on user feedback, but the aesthetic changes will stick. And then in a year they'll change it again and everyone will bitch and complain that this layout was perfect and the new one sucks.
furiousmoeAug 27, 2010
@sierrabravo f**k! I thought that link was real for a second. i feel blue balled.
knghtwhosaysniAug 26, 2010
damn, I think a lot of people didn't realize that someone named moralimbecile was making this comment as a joke. no one could seriously enjoy the redesign
buzzbeaterAug 26, 2010
Just ain't the same. : (
enantiodromiaAug 26, 2010
No. Let's not talk about it. It's off topic, and frankly, the crying about it is worse than the actual re-design.
diggsmckenzieAug 26, 2010
NOTHING can be worse that the redesign.
treehugger87Aug 26, 2010
I REALLY miss the upcoming stories. Digg did such a good job identifying topics that I was interested in and presenting them to me in that section. Really, I can't believe it's gone.
godsbongAug 26, 2010
Its like any business model here in the US. Screw your customers over no matter the cost, long as the people in charge like it.
chadsexingtimeAug 26, 2010
Agreed. I am not a fan of the new digg, as I spent a large amount of time browsing the upcoming stories. I don't want to 'follow' a poweruser to find out what they're going to submit next - I want to find that interesting story that has 12 diggs and help it make its way to the front page.
One thing is for sure though, it will make it easier for the patriots to get their stuff to the front page - though maybe a little harder for them to bury stories ... until they start following their opponents.
mweatherAug 26, 2010
Actually, you can't bury stories any more.
10lbhammerAug 26, 2010
the other thing that I miss is being able to bury stories as "inaccurate" or "spam." also being able to report users for spamming the stories.
johnilmAug 26, 2010
Digg has basically become my Facebook stream ... (besides the top stories that will be dominated by submissions from MrBabyMan,The Huffington Post, et.al) I will be corn-holed into submissions by the people I am following. That's exactly what Facebook is for. Digg was a tributary to the outside world with its upcoming stories, and now they've dammed up all the outlets except the one big one that is controlled by the corporations.
poonchowAug 26, 2010
I also remember seeing all the "top stories in all news" segment almost two days ago... are stories just lagging more in this format--Is it taking longer for stories to get to that segment?
girrrrrrr2Aug 26, 2010
I am now going to follow everyone I see... or something... wait... QUICK SOMEONE MAKE DIGG V3 CLONE!!!

I wonder how much in this world will eventually lose it's quality for money. Look at movies, look at arts and music. Have any legends been created in any of the fields for he past few decades? Probably they are in the making and the coming generations will find out about them. My guess is most of those legends will be the ones that worked as amateurs, everything mainstream is just mediocre these days. And, that's what has happened here, Digg sold out and now it is just another mediocre news site, trying to feed us all crap. Mainstream has gotten a hold of Digg now, they do not want us to have access to uncensored information. OK I'm being too conspiratist. Bring back the old Digg.

These are the people who are not willing to change.
elohirAug 27, 2010
This is the person who is willing to use a digg-branded rss reader with a ripped off facebook css.
d4nie1Aug 27, 2010
Yes exactly. I used to loved to load up the Upcoming Stories section and sort by most diggs and browse through pages of upcoming stories, digging up the ones I thought should go popular. I don't understand why they would get rid of that. Seems like it will be much harder for stories to go popular now.
I also hate that I can't go see a list of my comments with how many replies and diggs they have anymore.

Imam Rauf said the n-word and is for sharia law. I wonder what Stewart thinks of that?
davidnivenAug 26, 2010
Difficult for Stewart and his handlers to decide. On the one hand, you have racism which many liberals espouse secretly. On the other hand, you have a non-Christian religion which liberals like to support.

fux0rAug 26, 2010
Stewart and Colbert are just voicing out what SANE people are thinking when watching FOX. I can't believe people can be that retarded. The old racists are excused as they probably have little to no viable brain cells left to absorb new information without being spoon fed by the familiar propaganda machine they grew old with. And will hopefully keel over soon.
As for the other racist f**ks there's really no excuse. Bunch trailer trash hillbillies needs to blame somebody for their failed miserable existence.

philbertAug 26, 2010
I rarely watch Jon Stewart but that was pretty funny.
Oh and Digg4 sucks.
chuckdeesAug 26, 2010
Fox is purposefully keeping their viewers ignorant of facts. If reality doesn't fit the spin they want, that reality is ignored.
davidnivenAug 26, 2010
Stewart and his writers seem kind of obsessed with Fox News. But, I guess his viewers demand certain things and Stewart wants to keep his relatively low ratings from sinking any more, so...Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
enantiodromiaAug 26, 2010
Your trolling is worse than the new Digg. Congrats.
solitaireroseAug 26, 2010
The worst party of it is....it works. On an Industry related site, the FOX FANS have taken over the comment section, and when facts like these are pointed out to them, thgey dismiss them. Why? They weren't on FOX, which in their mind is the only trustworthy news source. Anything not in the right-wing blogosphere is dismissed.
They have done a masterful in creating their own reality, and trying to drag the rest of us into it.
