For fans of his films: Didn't realize till the second time watching Palindromes, the girl that is being given a Eulogy at the beginning of the film is the protagonist from Welcome to the Dollhouse. Dark.

i know! it's the most insane mixture of emotions a movie will make you go through in such a short period of time! truly a great filmmaker.

I have seen all the Todd Solondz films. Happiness was my favorite but I didn't really care for Life During Wartime. For starters the casting really annoyed me. I thought the replacement for Bill Maplewood was excellent and it really showed the change the character has undergone since we left off. I hated the new Joy as an actor and character. The new Joy seems like just one bad impersonation of the original. Phillip Seymore Hoffman was replaced by Omar from The Wire which seems completely out of left field. The dark humor found in Life During Wartime is still there but it isn't nearly as funny or cringe-worthy (in a good way) as Happiness.
