blogs.westword.com— Lyrics like "Shake it like a Poloaroid picture," "This sh*t is bananas" and the gratuitous use of Auto-tune are guaranteed to provide future generations with plenty of WTF moments. — Submitted Dec 24, 2009
The funny thing about the criticism of auto-tune is that pretty much all of these songs use it--just not to ridiculous levels. It seems most obvious (besides in T-Pain's example) in the Paris Hilton and Miley Cyrus songs.
That's the point of all pop music, to be inescapable for a year after release, to annoy and disgust for a decade afterwards, and then to be listened to with nostalgia after that...For instance, the song "Closing Time"...loved it the first 100 times I heard it, then got so sick of it I changed the channel everytime it started playing, now I don't mind it so much anymore. Same goes with other huge songs from that time period, "Flagpole Sitta", "The Impression that I Get" etc... We may absolutely hate "Poker Face" now, but in 2018, people will be bumping it again talking about the "good old days", just watch...
