Just downloaded and installed the beta skype last night and installed. There are certainly some limitations with the first release. As for a first release go's, this is one of the best. Nothing is missing but they can certainly build on it and hopefully integrate it into windows phone like facebook, twitter and linkedin. Really stoked they're on the right track.

If it leads to phone number going away, it could be good. Now if they really want to make it interesting, port skype over to the xbox and come up with an interface to let people perform instant call forwarding to and from their living room television sets.

I've been working on trying to get out of using google services for a while now. If windows phone does this well, I'm more than willing to get rid of my google voice number. Not only that, if they can implement this really well into there OS's Microsoft could start and build a wide area wireless telephone network which would give a lot of these cellular company's a little more competition. Just an idea.
