I received this game as a gift, otherwise never would have played it. I do disagree with the "historical accuracy" point, this game is a work of fiction; lets not distort or confuse on that point. I do not know about best video game EVER that is a bold statement. I do agree that it is a good story with a good amount of game play and still has some downloadable content being added. It also adds a fantastic multiplayer that keeps me engaged and anxious about what may be coming next. I was hooked on two other games and having played this I no longer am hooked on the other two, I am hooked on AC:B. If you were one of the people who did not try this due to what I hear are issues with the previous two games leading to this (I have not played either), I would strongly suggest you check back in to play this game.

The Daily Show is a leftwing US news program? I agree that it got young people interested in politics, but it is not a news program.
avatar78xMar 16, 2011
I don't think the author implies that the Daily Show is a news reporting program, just a program about news, ergo "News Program"....
willthewayMar 16, 2011
Yeah upon another reading, I have to agree with you. Thanks for the clarity.
avatar78xMar 16, 2011
It is a great game, though the statement "Best videogame Ever" is a bit bold and as for "historical accuracy" it's probably better to use words like "Based on/around real events/people"... it IS fiction afterall.

I have to react to this because with all the S%^$ happening, I can think of finding the best video game ever. Not right now.
emptybuddhaMar 16, 2011
I tend to agree, however, some people want to get their minds off of the events and do something else/think about other things.

Bad things happen to good people all day, every day. Dealing with this fact, and the continuous nature of it, may be the principal challenge of life as a human. One of the ways we do this is through the creation and enjoyment of art, like video games. Because we hope for a world full of beauty and not ugliness.
"Hope is itself a species of happiness, and, perhaps, the chief happiness which this world affords" -- Samuel Johnson

I would like to strongly disagree with the author. The best Videogame ever is not a videogame that is historically accurate. The best Videogame ever should be the one that you have the most fun with.
I had a lot of fun playing AC:B but I can name quite a few games that are a lot better.
fxspec06Mar 16, 2011
Can we stop using the phrase 'Best videogame ever'? That phrase will never be politically correct, because there will always be more questions after 'best videogame ever'. It's not just the best videogame ever, it's 'this game was important because..' or 'this game had a huge impact..' or 'this game reached out to..' or 'this game brought people..' or 'this was the first game to do..' or 'this game sold the most copies..'
Please, stop. We get it. There's tons of games that are incredible and they are ALL the best videogames ever.

I was SO BORED playing AC1 and eventually gave up on it. AC2 was amazing and AC:B was just as good. I really love this series and can't wait for the next game.
HikkiZMar 16, 2011
Ignoring the gameplay, the best part about this game is that Ubisoft have removed the draconian DRM they used in the rest of the AC series and replaced it with a one time activation. Finally some sanity!
Now if I only had some money I would have considered buying it.

100% agree

I respect your opinion but I have to respectfully disagree on the "best video game ever" part.
Everyone knows that Donkey Kong is the best video game ever.
MenReportMar 16, 2011
LOL, and Pacman or Pong?
Closed AccountMar 16, 2011
Pacman is the worst game ever. I mean all you do is eat fruits and other people. No FPS action like call of duty. No dedicated servers. No nothing. Pong might be the best game ever if it had dedicated servers.
richidMar 16, 2011Staff
Mortal Kombat on Sega Genesis is the best video game ever.
sabazouMar 16, 2011
I disagree. It's a very good game, but I think Donkey Kong is the best video game ever.
killerhamMar 16, 2011
I'ma let you finish but Super Mario Bros is the best video game of all time

Cave Story.
chomskyknows2Mar 16, 2011
incredible game, but the controls are s**t. i've seen countless video reviews showing a dude jumping onto a wall, then in the opposite direction he intends (instead of climbing up, etc.) this is because half of the things in the game are mapped to the 1 button...combat is similar. every time i play AC i have to relearn the rubbish controls...G4 and others have complained about this for years now.
if they fixed the controls, or allowed exact user button mapping in the options, AC2 might have been GOTY 2009...Brotherhood did nothing to fix this. The devs are too used to their own game by now...
don't get me wrong, it is an incredible game. i will buy the next one. sold....but the controls are RUBBISH.
immunofortMar 17, 2011
can't you remap the buttons?
chomskyknows2Mar 17, 2011
very few games allow that. from memory, AC doesn't (i could be wrong)...I know Unreal Tournament famously does allow exact button mapping. A lot of games have a couple of control options (soutpaw, etc) but I don't think that would fix AC. AC has the problem where the controls can change based on where you are, what situation you are in. it's confusing...you could be running along by holding down a button, then the controls change based on if you are up against a wall or some other thing...(from memory)...they have the added complexity of having to hold down 1 trigger + A to do something, then hold down the other trigger + A to do something else, I can't remember all that crap...often times, all you wanna do is jump up to a ledge, but you jump in the opposite direction off a wall, because you're holding down a trigger while sprinting and don't let go...are you even supposed to let go? beats me. i can't remember, because they are too UNINTUITIVE....
again, don't get me wrong, brilliant writing in the game. i got 1000/1000 chievos on AC2, so clearly i loved the game (and brotherhood as well)...found every damn feather and did everything you could do...but they'd be better off with something like standard FPS controls (left stick click = sprint, etc).
