Steve is important for apple but his well being is more important.

That chart they are using is trying to portray a decrease in stock price from Steve Jobs being absent? Look at the time period. Late 2008. If you recall, the DOW lost about 50% of its value in that time span. No company is immune to a recession and that's all this chart proves.

Is there anyone else in the business world more linked to the price of his/her company's stock price than Steve Jobs? #li

Apple has been planning for his departure for years now. No doubt they have done everything possible to groom his successors and make sure their success continues after Steve leaves. Even if you assume they can't come up with anything good after he no longer has influence, they've still got a least another year or two of products that he's already influenced. I'm sure we'll see a downtick tomorrow, maybe even for a couple days, then it will go back to a normal upward trend for awhile as they report good earnings, new product releases and other news. If it goes way down then it's a good time to buy anyway. I bought most of mine around $40 a share so I don't really mind it going down a bit . :)

It goes without saying that the market is fickle, and Apple is very much aware of this. It was no coincidence that this announcement was made on a day when the exchange was closed.

If it goes without saying then STFU.

never before has a company's CEO been so intertwined as Apple. Wall Street is short sighted, it wont be the end if Stevie leaves the company, he wont live forever. Tim Cook is great along with Ives, they know Steve's philosophies and principles. Expect great things to come long after Jobs has passed the torch

Life is like money, either you will invest it or waste it. For me I will invest for eternal purpose. Steve Job's money can't help him.

Health problems? Well duh, the guy gets all worked up over nothing on a regular basis.

He left basically the same group of people in charge last time he went on medical leave, and the company thrived. I don't see anything much different about this time.

They sold junk bonds and mortgage backed securities. C'mon, stop writing headlines that are pulling our legs.
