DLC is OPTIONAL.
stk198323Mar 29, 2011
And your point is?
Maybe they should sale a car with NO stereo (but without dropping the price)
Or a Television with only blue and red pixels... hey the green is OPTIONAL, never mind it sucks without it but it,s not NECESSARY now is it?
Oh I know, a cell phone with an optional ''phone app'' to actually be able to call people, I mean it does other stuff so why shouldn't you pay for one more feature?
People like you are the very reason why people are disgusted at the current video game situation. You think it's normal to pay for something then repay to play something that SHOULD have been in the original game.
Explain to me why 2 players mercenary was in RE5 but 4 players needed a 15 f**king dollars DLC for a code unlocking the 4 player mode (no map or guns or whatever else added!) that was already on the f**king disc!
Why does alternate costume can only be used after you bought a 5$ DLC? Oh and it depend on the sex, if you want both man and women costume... two different DLC so 10$ total!
Sure it's OPTIONAL like you say but it's actually breaking the games and the article was exactly pointing that, it adds nothing but you don't know until you actually bought and say: You know what? This DLC really stinks, I got screwed!
I used to buy games for the PS3, I have a nice collection... but now I'm down to about 1 or 2 games per year because I got fed up of not being able to play online with friends because I didn't dl the f**king DLC or I paid for it only to realize it's a s**tty useless DLC that adds 2 hours of gameplay for 15$!

amen my brother!
wetware23Mar 29, 2011
Yup. EXACTLY! what he said ^^^
Mean_Mister_MustardMar 29, 2011
That's why you buy a games based on it's standalone merits, not by whether it needs a DLC to be complete.
Bulletstorm and Crysis are two recent ones I've enjoyed playing and don't NEED a DLC. Red Dead Redemption, Halo Reach, Mass Effect Fallout New Vegas. Borderlands was a great game, the DLCs just added to it.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
stk198323Mar 30, 2011
I didn't knew I would have to pay 15$ to unlock 4 player mercenary when I bought RE5, they made it look like it would be a 1 or 2 $ DLC. Big f**king surprise when it actually came out!
Mean_Mister_MustardMar 30, 2011
Did you bother to read reviews before you bought it? When has a DLC ever been less than $10-$15?
An informed consumer is a happy consumer.
stk198323Mar 30, 2011
I didn't buy it... Where did I say I bought it?
I got pissed because what I planed to do with the game when the DLC wasn't out yet turned out to be totally crap entertained by a company which wanted to make a quick buck on buyers.
And do you really think there is no DLC that cost less then 10$ ? The vast majority of them are lower then that price!
Burnout paradise:
Toy car for Burnout paradise: 2$ each
All the cars together instead of seperatly: 6$
Motorcycle: 3$
Boost special pack: 5$
For Street Fighter 4:
Brawler pack: 4$
Femme Fatal: 4$
Shoruken pack: 4$
Shadowloo pack: 4$
Classic pack: 4$
Valkyria Chronicles:
3 different DLC, each priced at 5$
And those are only the games I know the most about and even for those games there is still some DLC that I couldn't find the original price for because DLC package changed and stuff like that.
There is probably MORE DLC that cost less then 10$ then there is that cost 10+$.

DLC that is already on the disc but is locked behind a code is bulls**t and needs to stop. Purposely locking consumers out of content just to nickle and dime them is atrocious. But, DLC that comes out months later that adds new content is fine. Sure, it would be great if it came on the disc, but most DLC that is released months later was created for the purpose of giving the player more content. It wasn't created then left off the disc so they can nickle and dime you later. Would you rather them just release the game and then never add any new content?
stk198323Mar 30, 2011
I agree that my comment looks like I hate all DLC, in fact I was editing it when time ran out so I said whatever, I'll just leave it like it is but of course there is some really good DLC coming out too it just depends on the mindset of the company producing the game.

You people are idiots. It's April Fools nonsense.

April Fool's day is on Friday, dumbtard.

I think he's on medication.

Don't worry. Pretty soon, the download cap overflows will make owning a game console seem like you own a luxury car because the overage fees of playing online games will make actual gaming costs for a $60 game double if not more.

What do they mean by "DLCs today"? DLC from the get go, when it first started cropping on consoles was as cash grab from day one! Horse armor? Seriously? In the beginning, companies simply locked content on disc and charged 5-10 bucks after release to 'buy' it. Complete fraud. Only changes today, are companies are getting smarter on how they hide content on disc, or actually have all dlc downloaded to give the illusion that their dev teams didn't create said content as part of the normal game development before release.
gazggMar 30, 2011
I think it's been getting worse recently, the biggest offender being the pre-order bonus depending where you got the game. Why am i being excluded from content just because of where i go to get the damn thing?
DLC has become everything I feared it would and it has seriously dented my enthusiasm for gaming
bennisonMar 30, 2011
Remember when there were things called expansion packs? Those were almost like semi-sequels in terms of content, and cost roughly the same as DLCs do for AAA releases.
ZombifiedRobMar 30, 2011
Before when you purchased DLC you spent money and downloaded additional content. Now when you purchase DLC you spend money to receive a 4kb update to unlock content you already had on the disc.
Philly_mktgApr 1, 2011
very true! expansion packs as what they call it or patch with almost same price as the game
