Disclaimer: Kevin Rose is an investor in Path

what the hell is Path?
This is nothing more than blatant spam disguised as an apology...and a digg staffer was dumb enough to fall for it. (or take a bribe to top pick it)

Several blogs have reported this news, i think its enought with the disclaimer that kevin rose is an investor

Well...that is a big disclaimer. Digg is promoting some crappy site that Kevin Rose is invested in.
A social blogging site? Really? Is this 2005?
And if Kevin Rose is involved, it doesn't bode well for their financial future.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

Well, I have to respect their forthright promptness is admitting it without side-stepping and double-talking like some other social media sites I know of.
But it saddens me that they obviously don't grasp the demonstration of cognitive disparity in putting the following points nearly back-to-back in the same paragraph:
"...we want you to feel completely in control of your information on Path"
" we’ve deleted the entire collection of user uploaded contact information from our servers"
The appropriate thing would more likely have been something along the lines of offering users the quick and simple of option of deleting the content from the servers themselves (press here to delete - press here to retain...) as this would be more in keeping with the premise that the user is the one in control of whether the content goes or stays. Don't tell users you're giving them full control, and then delete their content on their behalf before notifying them of such.

Wow, this guy really does look like a douchebag that can't be trusted. He just has "that look".

Ok...so what if his photo was next to a cancer research fund? Then you'd say "he just looks like a nice guy."
I think your judgement is weird.

@ophello
Actually I think your judgement is weird. Oh well, that's how guys like that get their suckers, I guess.

I agree. Looks like a douche, and this little marketing stunt just proves further that sometimes when people have "that" look, the intuition may prove correct. Mark f**kerberg has "that" look, Steve Jobs had "that" look - it's that snooty smug "I'm so awesome" look that makes you want to punch them in the face.

Why don't I just use Facebook to share with friends what I am doing and tag people? Omg Path shows pictures of what I did! Wow this is for me!
macparrotFeb 9, 2012
Could you imagine FaceBook or Google + deleting your contact info out of worries or complaints that there might be a security issue? Or would they just go on and try (or maybe not even that) to make it safer through trial and error? Meanwhile all your contact information is laid out to whoever can either hack it or (more likely) be willing to pay for it?

Hmm, a good tactic to save disk space: "to show our commitment to your privacy, we delete anything you try to store here. You're welcome!"
macparrotFeb 9, 2012
How much disk space do you think you'll save by deleting just contact information?
bdbrFeb 9, 2012
Well, I was thinking more along the lines of this as a general practice. But more importantly, I was KIDDING! Lighten up! I don't think most of us know or care about Path.
