With the unemployment rate so high, it is going to be hard to get traction with a labor movement.
kalvinbJun 18, 2011
That's an article? What exactly do these employees want?
barackalypseJun 18, 2011
If they're treating you so poorly, maybe your time would be better spent looking for work elsewhere, instead of traveling across the Country to complain. I hear Costco pays pretty well.
mrteflonJun 18, 2011
Hmm really they have dozens of openings at your Costco? Can you provide the address on where to give the application and get accepted on the spot?
Did not think so you talk through your ass as usual.

Is that even one store's worth of employees?
amaoicanJun 18, 2011
I vaguely recall hearing from an employee of a Wal-mart (many years ago - around the time the Wii was launched) that their store was understaffed by 100 people. The one store had 100 less people than they 'needed'. I'm not sure if it was true, though. This wasn't exactly a close personal friend of mine.
mrteflonJun 18, 2011
The sad thing is if anyone complains they send in the Personell nazis.
Here is one example out of thousands with the same story.

And tomorrow's headline: "Wal-Mart seeking to fill more than 100 recently vacated positions"
luv2luvJun 17, 2011
Wal-Mart seems to be having a couple problems as of late, huh
scabnabbitJun 18, 2011
Although I sympathize with their plight and the fact some came from families/situations that were completely f**ked and therefore are potentially damaged to some degree, possibly for life, this is a bit much.
If my employer pisses me off enough I gather my resumes till I get a hit and walk. (and/or I learn some specific skills to enhance my prospects.) I've certainly done it before. It would be much more wholesome for everyone if these folks put their energies toward truly helping themselves vs putting it all in a dead-end and ending up being the butt of jokes to loser retail CEOs.
And just to curb the potential post, yeah, I've been there and done it. You can pile up like a mofo in a high-room density house to chop the rent. (You will want to kill the f**ker(s) that doesn't clean up the common areas like they're supposed to, but s**t happens.)
woollymittensJun 18, 2011
They will all be fired and replaced. It's an employer's market at the moment. Obey your corporate masters or starve faster.
success4meJun 18, 2011
They actually need better treatment. That will make the workers to be more committed to duty.

Walmart is a difficult company to work for. The associates are not treated with respect and they don't really make enough money to earn a living. Most of the jobs are part time, leaving these people with no benefits. This company became a giant by not caring about the little person, only the billions of dollars they have made; therefore, how can we expect change.
partrowJun 18, 2011
If they or anyone does not like their job, go somewhere else. Don't make it worse for those still there. Leave or shut up.
Like barackalypse said well, Costco IS always hiring, as is any large company. Applications are submitted online.
TheMightyZordonJun 18, 2011
Yes, let's just allow those in power to s**t all over us peons, why don't we?
You're part of the problem.

Workers deserve respect!
partrowJun 19, 2011
"Workers" is a Marxist term.
Anywhere I have ever worked they are called employees.
StonnaJun 18, 2011
Dude my moms worked at walmart for 22 years. She makes 18 an hour but her work schedule is f**ken s**t. The least they could do it is give her a permanant 8-4 job. Just like her 7 year olds school schedule
TheMightyZordonJun 18, 2011
I'm surprised she even has a career track working for them. How does one manage that? :/

The article says that Wal-Mart is anti-union and closes Wal-Mart branches that unionize. When following a link in this article, we find..
Wal-Mart doesn't pay employees for rest and meal breaks even though some state laws require it!
I say complain! Complain to people who tell you not to complain! Raise your voice! Shout at them before something really bad happens!

A few points:
1) Only 100 whiny employees? How many does Walmart employ in total? Yeah, this is such a huge protest. /s
2) Buried for pro-union, complaining alternet leftist blog/spam blather.
3) Don't like Walmart, don't shop there. Stop complaining, liberal babies. It's called freedom. It's their business, not yours. Build your own competing business and do things the way that your liberal sensibilities dictate...if you can. Otherwise, you'll just have to be content to sit in your dorm room, parents' basement, or cubicle farm in some leftist internet blog company and cry.
4) Don't like Walmart, don't work there. No one has a gun to your head, you crybabies. Get a different job. Go study something. If you're working at Walmart and that's the only job you can get, then maybe you should have studied harder in school instead of hanging out at the mall.
