I used to own Volvo, it was the size of a boat and drank fuel like an alcoholic!

My Volvo is safe because it won't go at more than about 30 mph… useless bloody car.

I've got a 2010 Volvo C30 R-Design and its awesome. I get people coming up to me asking, "s**t is that a Volvo? I didn't think Volvo made cars that looked THAT good?", or something similar. Finally they are starting to shed their 'box shaped cars for geography teachers' image and tapping into a younger market. But if Geely decide to cut costs or corners then they'll f**k things up way more than Ford ever did.

"... under new ownership by a Chinese car company."
Any "company" in China is little more than a facade created for western consumption ... and we gladly play along because this is what we know and are accustomed to. But it is effectively financed, owned and controlled by the government establishment --- i.e. the Communist Party and the military.
This is how you end up with 5 different "Chinese companies" all producing virtually identical products built from one common design.

The most dangerous part of any car is the nut between the gas pedal and the steering wheel!
I live just off a major highway in a rural area.
Around here, when you see a later-model Volvo, steer CLEAR!!
The owners of Volvos are generally people who have lived in urban areas all their life, and have never mastered rural driving, They also tend to be people who take public transit to work. That means that, when it comes to driving, they are inexperienced beyond their years. Safe driving is all about keeping your head. They don't keep their head in rural areas. That makes Volvos among the most dangerous cars on the road.

I've been driving Volvo since about 1997 - my fist one (old 1991 station wagon - can't even recall a model l#) was wonderful and like a tank. Expensive to fix though. When I finally had to break down and get another car, I got a used 2001 S-60. MOST unimpressive. Honestly, it's just falling apart and failing - 1 little bit at a time. Driving down south 4 months ago, the passenger side trim (hood to boot) just snapped off. Unreal. :) We'll just ride it into the sunset and see what happens next.
