Your first sentence is true, but it sounds like quite a bit of that money is going into development of their product. Hopefully the goal is to become #1 by making the best cars available.

I really wanted to buy it, then you bailed on it. Put it in production add 21 windows and full size ragtop sunroof to it and I'm sold!! Nothing is as cool as the old VW Micro Buses!! Nothing!!

volkwagen can do it. they have a reputation of building high quality, long lasting products. my car is a 1968 german beetle and i would like my now 7 year old daughter to drive it when she turns 18.

I love Volkswagen as a company but for their 2011 lineup I feel they sold out for the sake of numbers. The new 2011 Jetta is a disappointment where the 2005-2010 Jetta were quality leaders...

They need to do a lot better in the US, where they are essentially a niche marketer.
They need to be in the top 5 at least.
The market here is so competitive that with Fiat re-entering, and Gili giving it a shot, that won't be easy!
