Why?

Born and raised in Fort McMurray (the tar sands). Good to see a levelled perspective. We have been taking heavy shots from mostly everyone; calling it dirty oil. Truth is, we need it, you need it. Let's keep this relationship tight. Keep your chin-up and your stick on the ice USA, this economic road bump won't be forever, your too great a nation. Cheers.. PS: Canada loves yah, come visit once in a while

FUELS debate!

Working at Suncor here. Kind of crazy that it is basically just water vapor that give the oil the dirty stigma.

Canada needs to diversify our client base for our resources. We cannot continue to count on the shakey American economy.

We would find buyers. The boys and girls at the top know it's all good. Government knows it's all good. We turned down OPEC several times. I am sure the USA won't be passing up little bro's oil anytime soon.

Canadian tar sands are amongst the most polluting form of energy we have. Worse than anthracite coal, as it takes wasting three times as much water to process the tar sands into usable petroleum. That waste water then leeches into the soil and pollutes the land and anything downstream. That we are relying so heavily on tar sands is an indication of how desperate the waning end of the Peak Oil curve has forced us.

True, but we need it. It is what it is

The choice to transport crude oil from the oil sands in Alberta to the refineries of the US are rail or pipeline. The pipeline choice is by far the safest method.
