Message to staff, sorry for my off topic comment, but you guys need to see this:
http://digg.com/news/gaming/media/recent
A single popular story in the last 24 hours. You guys really need to let more stories go front page. Digg needs a continuous stream of good content and it seems like things have completely stalled.
Just a thought.

Let's also talk about why ONLY WHITE LISTED sites are popping?
gameondiggerFeb 9, 2012
This is precisely the reason why V4 created so much issue. Digg was and still the best way to find content on the internet, be it the small blogs or mainstream media. This is what the about us page says:
http://about.digg.com/
"Digg is a place for people to discover and share content from anywhere on the web. From the biggest online destinations to the most obscure blog, Digg surfaces the best stuff as voted on by our community."
Recently, it seems that digg is moving away from its main motive. I am not against white listed sites but there should be a good mix of the lesser known sites as well. The example I gave in my first comment reflects my opinion.
Only one popular story in the last 24 hrs?! The Gaming Industry is much bigger than that. I would love to see some one respond to this:)
Just to end my comment, I want to see digg become a better place and hence the frustration. By not letting fresh content go on front page, digg is slipping backwards.
Can anyone from the staff respond to my cries!

99.99% of people would disagree with you that Digg is the best place to find information. Probably more.

I don't understand why there isn't a steady stream of content front-paging in every category.
This is the biggest story of today where Doublefine managed to raise over $500k for an upcoming adventure game in a matter of hours [http://digg.com/news/gaming/double_fine_seeks_to_cut_out_publishers_with_kickstarter_funded_adventure ] but this won't hit the frontpage because it's at 2 diggs. I suggest all stories should hit the FP if they are from a decent source unless similar. The stores promoted to the newsroom FP should hit the frontpage.
Let the users discover new stories in the Top News section and Frontpage more stories, also the frontpage pagination should be similar to the Newsrooms.

Thanks for writing in about this. We've been performing some site maintenance in the past 24 hours which was contributing to the low frequency of homepage stories.
As always, if you continue to notice any issues you can always reach us over at http://about.digg.com/contact.

I think what Matt means is..some of hte spamming sites have noticed how badly Digg's traffic has fallen and have tried to renegotiate down the amount of bribe money that they pay certain Digg staff members to promote their s**t, even if it is blatant spam, and even if it is a dupe. During these negotiations, they are not going to promote anything.

The comments aren't just about the past 24 hours. It's been like this for a few weeks. Sports category is the same as gaming. Only a handlful of stories have been promoted in the last week or so. And the ones that do pop are barely related to sports at all. Any posts about actual sports news, such as Kobe Bryant breaking an all-time record this week were not only top 10 trending words on Google Trends, but also promoted and talked about on almost every social networking/bookmarking site EXCEPT digg.
I don't believe for a second that the lack of promoted stories from sports is because of a lack of interest from the community. Given the fact that every day there are stories from sports newswire that get more diggs and comments than almost anything on the digg homepage at any given time.
Sad that digg is dying a slow death yet can't get the algorithm to just operate like it did in the golden days of V3. The days where the community actually decided what stories should be promoted based on diggs and interactions with the submission. Now the only thing that gets to front page are random posts from whitelisted sites that only have 30-40 diggs and have very little interest or interaction from the actual digg community.
Yet the staff at digg have time to write blog posts about successful ad campaigns they ran. Do you really think the readers of digg.com would actually rather read about the successes or failures of ad campaigns you are being paid to blog about instead of actual news stories getting killed by your algorithm in the newswire?
Just a thought....but what do I know?

Nothing more than a digg sponsored AD hiding as a story.
Can this site fall any lower?

Breaking news doesn't get to the front page, but blogs from staff about their ad campaigns make it to the front page?
I guess digg staff hate their readers, that's the only thing I can think of?

Acura's Superbowl ad was so popular, that seconds after it aired, Acura's website crashed with requests from fans trying to find out more about the car. It took, several minutes for the site to come back.

Every page, at least three ads posing as stories. 'seinfeld acura this' and 'seinfeld leno' that. Irritating.

It was good for what it was, but overall the commercials were just lacking.
