Cost of doing business. I hardly think this is Murdoch's "worst nightmare."
anomaly100Oct 27, 2010
I'd think Glenn Beck is his worst nightmare;-) (Sorry, couldn't resist)
blinker1315Oct 27, 2010Submitter
I can't stand Beck either. In reality, Murdoch's "worst nightmare" is rather mundane: his death. None of his children have his drive, his guts or vision that he does and he's afraid his "empire" will slowly disintegrate. You can agree or disagree with Murdoch—it's obviously a sharp divide—but there's no question the man works hard.

"There's no question the man works hard"
Yeah, but working hard without integrity doesn't count.

didn't think the devil could die.

@blinker1315
You may not like Beck but you sure do love Murdoch.
I don't think he has to worry about his "empire" slowly disintegrating.
I think are saving it by replying six time with the same comment.
LOL

@jdenzer: Sorry about that repetition; that was Digg's glue and paste coming undone. I admire Murdoch for what he's built and for his vision. Can't stand Ted Turner, for either his outsized braggart personality or politics, but also admire his entrepreneurial guts.

Many are excited for the Rangers, since this is their first time there.
lnmagicOct 28, 2010
Thank you. Let's not forget that the Dallas area is the 4th largest metropolitan area in the country, and there are not many teams in a large area that compete with the Rangers for attention. That said, I am saddened that I actually want to watch something on Fox.

Your last statement makes you sounds so pathetic. Just so you know. (And I am not talking about the spam for CBS fantasy leagues...even though you are probably the ONLY one using CBS Fantasy Leagues.
lnmagicOct 28, 2010
I'm not using their leagues. I just found a map of MLB teams. And yeah, I know it was a partisan statement, but there's nobody less "Fair and Balanced" than the one network that touts itself as such.

Two underdog teams who have really turned it on when it mattered. If you're a baseball fan you have to love that and I'm a Phillies fan. Unfortunately, without big market teams like the Yankees, Sox, etc the ratings wil be down.
davidtcOct 28, 2010
Did they settle their blackout in the New York area? For some reason I think they started that in hopes that the Yankees would make the World Series and pretty much force Cablevision to pay a huge fee to get the games.
Closed AccountOct 28, 2010
If the Yankees were in the World Series, you can bet that some politician who is in danger of getting voted out of office next week would have managed to pass some injunction to get the games put on Cablevision somehow. It's been done before for politican brownie points.

dumb sites say this every year the Yankees don't make it but the last few Series that didn't involve a huge market team got higher ratings than those that had the Yankees.
rmflaggOct 28, 2010
"Without a big market team, don't expect much for Fox's World Series ratings." Uhhh...when did San Francisco and Dallas become small markets? I know that they aren't New York or LA, but...
cowboy86Oct 28, 2010
This World Series is full of a bunch of steers and queers.
lnmagicOct 28, 2010
It's the Beards versus the Claws.
drossoOct 28, 2010
Really? The Rupert Murdoch's worst nightmare that he own assets in North Korea.
user500Oct 28, 2010
If Murdoch was worried about ratings he'd fly in Beck and Palin to be gust announcers for the game.
blinker1315Oct 28, 2010Submitter
Almost anybody would be better than Joe Buck and Tim McCarver.
