It's a Hi-Point, that is kind of useless
farmthisMar 29, 2011
Hi Point isn't THAT bad... they're the cheapest, but someone is always going to be the cheapest. Their quality is not proportionately below other companies in the way their prices are.
drunkcatholicMar 29, 2011
Well let's just say that in the highly unlikely situation of having to defend my life with a firearm, a Hi-Point would be one of the very last firearms I would choose.
farmthisMar 29, 2011
Fair enough -- and neither would I. Or I should say I don't. Ruger for .380 here.

kill your television, literally...
lostngoneMar 29, 2011
This is highly illegal unless he has an FFL. He is running a business and he selling/bartering firearms.
yarozeMar 29, 2011
Or they are doing as some other businesses have, and give out vouchers for a local FFL
Now if the shotguns were made in Montana, and they sign a waiver stating it will never leave Montana under the "Montana Firearms Freedom Act" then well go read the law for the state.
drunkcatholicMar 29, 2011
Actually, what they're doing is giving the customer a voucher to a local gun store. Then the customer has to go to the store, have a background check performed, and then if they pass they get their gun.
They're not literally giving guns away at Radio Shack.
So no, it's not 'highly illegal'. I live 30 minutes away from where this is happening, and it's made the news several times recently.
lostngoneMar 29, 2011
Well I am sorry. I can only make comments on what the article reports. It didn't explain anything about the vouchers. It sounded like they were offering free Guns for New Dish Network Customers and not vouchers to get the gun at a licensed dealer.
BnjmnMar 29, 2011
50 dollars worth of pizza hut is suppose to be equivalent to a gun?
drunkcatholicMar 29, 2011
We're talking Hi-Point guns here. So yes.
heresy_fnordMar 29, 2011
Misleading title. One single Radio Shack is giving away vouchers valid for a free gun from a nearby gun store.

itsmirkosMar 29, 2011
USA!
KellCMar 29, 2011
This is simply outrageous
drunkcatholicMar 29, 2011
Why?
The customer is given a voucher for a local gun store. The gun store runs a background check on them to determine if they're legally eligible to own a gun. If they are, then here's your gun.
It's not like they're literally giving away guns in Radio Shack to just any schmuck who signs up for Dish Network.
drunkcatholicMar 29, 2011
What this blog fails to mention is that Radio Shack is not literally handing guns out to just anyone who signs up for Dish Network.
They give them a voucher for a local gun store, and that gun store runs a standard background check on them before giving them a gun. If you're not eligible to own a gun, you get a gift certificate for pizza instead.
