Don't need voice tech. Are their lips moving? Then, they're lying.
clitniblr036Feb 3, 2012
Exactly. Same as with politicians.
Cleap1Feb 4, 2012
Add to my list of late: auto body shops staff, insurance company staff and auto rental staff (Avis)
barasawaFeb 3, 2012
Exactly, what else would it bother detecting?
FrankLuskaFeb 2, 2012
CEO's?, how about a requirement for every politician!
anomaly100Feb 2, 2012
It would break the tech.
nerysFeb 2, 2012
it would be made illegal faster than you could go hey good idea. of course they would use it on US.
bagos1Feb 3, 2012
Just like drug teating.
norman619Feb 2, 2012
An accomplished liar can tell a lie just as easily as tell the truth and you can't tell the difference. This will be just as effective or ineffective as the polygraph.
rayvrFeb 3, 2012
Oh but you can tell the difference. It's called "Fact Checking"!
canadianmacfanFeb 2, 2012
Easy, their mouth opens.
matthrFeb 3, 2012
Beat me to it...
vinchenzo28Feb 3, 2012
Haha I was thinking the same thing, then I realized that would probably figure out that most politicians are sociopaths
niceguyvanFeb 3, 2012
"how about a requirement for every politician!"
Is their mouth open? They're lying.
Ah, someone beat me to it
smackertFeb 2, 2012
"If it detects that they are talking, then they are lying."
salbatrossFeb 2, 2012
"Yes, they are."
Just say that every time and you'll be more accurate than a polygraph.
icwydFeb 2, 2012
If their mouth is moving?
norman619Feb 2, 2012
That would be far more accurate.
jaketyson85Feb 2, 2012
jaded dumocrat go spam on reddit next time instead.
mobilerepeaterFeb 3, 2012
i think so, and their eyes are truning from right to left within 3s
eschercubeFeb 2, 2012
They are not lies. They are "forward-looking statements".
vitriolandangstFeb 3, 2012
That's just re-branding motion detection.
raroccafortFeb 3, 2012

rayvrFeb 3, 2012

That's nice but i think it's not just for CEO. Technologies nowadays are really progressing.
talcosFeb 3, 2012
I glanced over the paper that the researchers put out, and I have to say that I'm intrigued. What remains to be seen, however, is whether this kind of technology can be as easily applied elsewhere.
I think that CEOs make excellent subjects of research in developing LVA technology because the kinds of lies we're dealing with are very large and very difficult to conceal; one would expect to have a rich harvest of data from studying their speech patterns.
On the other hand, when a liar internalizes their lie to the point that they have convinced themselves that the lie true, I think it would be difficult to locate the kinds of vocal dissonance markers that the article mentions. The researchers are looking for signs of incongruence between what a person is saying and what they are thinking, but someone who has successfully deceived themselves may not show those outward signs - at least not to the same extent.
doshiabuckeyeFeb 3, 2012
Can we use that on spouses
mobilerepeaterFeb 3, 2012
does Lie to me workable?
ninhFeb 3, 2012
I can check whether their lips move without the help of a gadget, thanks.
mdburgosFeb 2, 2012
I can see some real value in that. Hello, Mr. Pandit [Citibank CEO)...
mobilerepeaterFeb 3, 2012
hehe~~
