Republicans will take the credit (even though whenever it goes down it's Obama's fault) in 3...2...1..

How about fewer obstructionist, ultra-rightwing nimrods in congress come next election. I'd take that for a prize.

But a sprint is a race.

Romney quote: The economy “has taken a lot longer than it should have to come back, in part because of the policies of this administration,” Romney said. “For that, the president deserves the blame that he’ll receive in this campaign.”
What Romney ALWAYS fails to mention with this criticism is that Conservatives have been stonewalling the President since 2008, PREVENTING the economic reform efforts this country sorely needs.
As such, the political bums who MOST deserve to get kicked out of government are CONSERVATIVES (i.e., Republicans, Tea Party AND Conservative "Democrats"), NOT Progressive Democrats. Irresponsible obstruction SHOULD bring consequences during elections.

My question to the right wingers is this; If Obama’s policies have kept the economy from recovering then shouldn't the economy be stagnant or going backwards? But it's not so his policies must not be bad (you could argue to what degree are they good but you couldn't say they are bad).
If you agree with that premise then I'd have to ask; how much of a negative affect has the republican stone walling had on the speed of the recovery? And if the republicans weren't being such obstructionists then how much faster would the recovery be?
To say Obama's policies are bad you would have to have data that shows that, such as negative economic data. The data doesn't show that. To say that Obama's policies are causing the economy to recover at a slower rate you would then have to admit that it's because of the republican’s stone walling.
No matter how you look at it, the republicans are wrong.

Excellent point!

Allow me to explain the jobs numbers in a single chart:
http://research.stlouisfed.org/fred2/series/CIVPART
Labor force participation is at its lowest in 30 years with over 1.2 million working age people leaving the labor force in January alone (sort of makes 243,000 created jobs seem a bit anemic, doesn't it?)Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

Payroll is a better indicator of employment market trends. Here's a better assessment:

youareretardedFeb 4, 2012
Gee I wonder if the labor participation rate curve has anything to do with the age of the typical baby boomer?
Couldn't be....

barackalypseFeb 5, 2012
Given the labor force participation rate of those aged 55-64 in 2010 was 64.9% and at age 65 you stop being counted in the labor force participation rate graph I included and the 2020 projects are an even higher number, I'd say nope.

No where on that page does it say that.

Did you hear what boner said today?
Where are the jobs?
Well, here are the jobs.

barackalypseFeb 4, 2012
And you don't find it at all odd that the labor force participation is at its lowest rate in 30 years and in a month where they reported 243,000 jobs created that over 1.1 million working age people LEFT the work force?

There are a lot of reasons for that downturn and not all of them are tied to unemployment or deteriorating economic conditions. Don't forget there are other factors which also impact the numbers you're looking at (i.e., retirement, death, lifestyle changes, etc.)
That's why I tend to rely more on payroll data to assess the labor market trends related to employment.
youareretardedFeb 4, 2012
You are talking to a wall.
publiclurkerFeb 5, 2012
That's not fair. Walls have their use.

Both of the large downward swings in the last 12 years started during recessions that began with large drops in the stock market. Those generally aren't the times people decide "hey, our stock portfolio just lost a third of our retirement savings, lets leave the workforce right now and start drawing down the money we have left!" I'm sure some number of people are constantly making lifestyle choices like that, but when millions of people start doing it, I think something more fundamental is going on.

Oh boy, Obama is really going to have a hard time getting elected with all this bad news happening this year? Boner was right wasn't he?
Must be that plan of the two parties that are the same? They want the democratic party to win again. That was for the conservative (apathetic or pathetic) conspiracy challenged ones on digg.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

Labor force participation rate hit a 30 year low this January. Creating 243k jobs doesn't do much good when over 1.1 million working age people leave the work force the same month.
http://research.stlouisfed.org/fred2/series/CIVPART
Besides which, the jobs that were created were created without Obama's jobs bill.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

I see the data and it is undeniable. This is a systemic issue that is the core of our current morals brought on by the last 30+ years of direction.
How is this Obama's fault?
How is this an apocalypse?
How would you suggest that it be fixed?
msbpodcastFeb 4, 2012
The current administration will take all the credit, whether it deserves it or not.
The is bad news for the repukes as the democraps will steal their thunder.
It makes NO DIFFERENCE.
We've become a government
• OF the thousandaires (the 99%, that would be me and thee,)
• BY the millionaires (the 1%, that would be the extremely insular privileged overlords and bosses,)
• FOR the billionaires (the 12,400 individuals identified by the IRS as the people who count (though they don't really count as they hire some thousandaires to run machines to do that.)
The problems are structural. It wouldn't matter who's elected.
Elections are the problem.
We get to choose between one set of 1%ers or another set of 1%ers. Neither set wants anything to do with us the day after the votes are counted. They're too busy raising money for the next election by selling their votes to the highest bidders.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
