Well, two other interesting events that recently happened are worth noting because they are in some way at least related.
One is that Microsoft announced IT is buying back its Microsoft stocks to help pump the price up. The other is that Microsoft did not have enough money in US dollars to do the buyback since it has sent its cash overseas. So, it is borrowing the US dollars needed to do the buyback. The amount it is borrowing to do this buyback is huge.
Put that together with its chief, Ballmer, selling a sixth of his shares and it creates an interesting picture.

These investments will likely be outside toxic US dollars and invested in commodities and other stronger currencies I'm guessing. Smart people are doing that now to protect their investments so you probably can't fault Ballmer not wanting his cash to lose value from inflation. I guess insider sell offs are hitting some all time highs I've heard so its not really surprising to see it happen but publicly announcing it seems odd.
