I feel bad for the insurance companies.
No wait..... No I don't! They will take months if not years to pay out claims and will weasel their way out of paying most of that.

Earthquake insurance is separate from the normal home owner insurance. So the question is how much is really covered.

Doesn't really matter, remember Louisiana. Look at what the insurance industry did to people even those with flood insurance. They jerked them around, dragged their heels and waited for people to get really desperate and then settled claims by paying pennies on the dollars that they owed.

AIG, which was bailed out by the US government, is heavily exposed in Japan. It will be interesting to see just what their losses really are.
