I felt the same way, i found dell to be better than HP. This wasn't the case around a year ago.

I still remember when HP was known for building things that worked and that were indestructible. What's sad is that now, they're indistinguishable from everyone else. There's nothing special about them. They could vanish tomorrow and most people wouldn't notice.

The quality of HP hardware has been declining ever since the Compaq merger orchestrated by Carly Fiorina and Mark Hurd. This action was fought tooth and nail by the Packard family who felt it betrayed the very spirit of "the HP way" they credit for the company's long record of success. The ethical standards of HP's board have also been declining at almost the same rate.

I have and always will be an HP fan. 2 out my 5 PC/laptops in the last 11 years have been HPs (the others being a Gateway, an Acer and a Dell). The HPs have lasted the longest, been the easiest to upgrade (next to the Gateway, which didnt quit for almost 8 years), and are extremely reliable. I always look for HP when I buy a computer or parts, because of the quality I've come to expect. They're rugged as hell.
