I have to admit that I am not a great fan of McDonald's food but I have huge respect for the company itself.
hipmanSep 22, 2010
You mean just health-wise or?.....
Ed_Conway_88Sep 22, 2010
No not health wise but in the sense of how they run their business. They are constantly innovating their company with the modern technology and keeping their stranglehold on the market.
hipmanSep 22, 2010
I was actually referring to the first part of your comment.
Ed_Conway_88Sep 22, 2010
oh sorry :) no not just because it is unhealthy but I just don't feel full once I have eaten there and don't find the taste that great
docsimmonsSep 22, 2010
The recession is over?
spuy767Sep 22, 2010
Oh, you didn't know? The president spent all summer telling everyone that the recession is over.
ostracizeSep 22, 2010
So let it be written. So let it be done.
cornelpSep 22, 2010
This is the weird part. Yeah OK, MCDs is doing fine, but recession is OVER? Come on, who they BSsing?
addiktionSep 23, 2010
No. Things have barely changed. They just don't want to lose consumer confidence aka the government is lying to you.
JBudeskySep 22, 2010
the recession is over... when did that happen ?
hipmanSep 22, 2010
Last summer.

With an unemployment rate of around 10% and a stock market still down some 30% from before the recession, is it really over?
amaoicanSep 22, 2010
If the glass of water still full to the brim, have I really stopped pouring? Yes, yes I have. You have to look at the sign of the first derivative. If it's negative, then you're in a recession and if it is 0 or positive you're not. By the way, no one is saying just yet whether or not we are *currently* in a recession - just that we were in a recession at one point, and it ended a year ago. Nothing to stop us from dipping into another one a month later.
cornelpSep 22, 2010
Try 17% in Miami Area...
addiktionSep 23, 2010
I have a few houses to sell you if you think its over, call me. 555-5555
cheloanSep 22, 2010
This analysis is great. Someone said MD was so succeed is for cheap. Someone said they are using the real estate tactics. Whatever , they were succeed. Maybe marketing is also the big point. You think, the Economy Index has a Big Mac Idx, not WHOPPER Idx, why?Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
robusticaSep 22, 2010
Agree, they were succeed.
wuha1981Sep 22, 2010
Recession is not over. That's the media bulls**tting to get you to spend money... In august 2010 alone Poverty rate hits 15-year high. http://www.reuters.com/article/idUSTRE68F4K520100916Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.
amaoicanSep 22, 2010
Poverty rate is not a recession indicator. GDP is. GDP shrinks, we have recession. GDP grows, we have recovery.
meekusSep 22, 2010
The problem with using GDP as an indicator in this context is that GDP is a measurement of economic output, not economic growth. If we really want to measure if we are going in or out of a recession, we need to evaluate actual economic growth by way of looking at the increase of tangible, physical, REAL capital as opposed to abstract aggregates.
amaoicanSep 22, 2010
Hey, whether or not a girl is a virgin is not necessarily an indicator of how slutty she is - she could be blowing and jerking off guys left and right. The indicator indicates what it indicates, nothing else.
scannermobsSep 22, 2010
recession ain't over, anyone telling you otherwise is lying or has no clue
Closed AccountSep 22, 2010
The recession is over for rich people. Apparently that is all that really matters.
lorensingleySep 22, 2010
Because it's cheap as hell and people with no money / job like cheap food so they kept going there maybe ever more than before the recession???
markglSep 22, 2010
Recession over my ass.
vilagoSep 22, 2010
I'll bet there is a correlation between McDonalds' stock and how fat people are. The better McD does, the fatter the population. Haven't these fat people learned their lesson? Go to the grocery store and buy REAL food. Yeah you might be spending slightly less but your health will suffer for it. It's not like fast food is THAT cheap. You are just buying one meal at a time.
hydroplaneSep 22, 2010
There is a recession?
silentspyderSep 22, 2010
I hate to jinx myself but I didn't feel any recession (Watch me get fired tomorrow now)
theratdotusSep 22, 2010

Whenever I eat at McDonalds I feel sick about 2 hours afterwards. One thing is for sure, it may save you money today but in 30 years time you will pay for that cheese burger, oh you will pay.
