Before anyone get's too excited, and I don't want to be a downer here, the fridge is very small and looks to have walls nearly one foot thick.
Whirpool so elegantly designed my fridge to have walls about one inch thick, so as to maximized the interior volume.
My point is that technology has trade-offs, which depend highly on one's objectives. Most retail fridges focus on the ability to make ice fast, remove a lot of heat energy fast (for cooling off warm or hot foods placed in them before letting them cool), for maximizing internal volume, for making them match your decor, for making them fit into your cabinets, to make ice and water dispensing convienant, oh yeah, and to make them modestly efficient.
You can imagine the required trade-off's here.
If the only factor was efficiency/power use, I suspect you'd arrive at the fridge pictured, but I seriously doubt its comemrcial viability.
That being said, I'm interested in the new technology, but would like to see how it affects fridges in their normal form factor.

How far did it run and were they able to catch it after 10 days?

A simpler alternative is to get a small portable diesel generator and hook it up to your house via your existing electrical system. Runs your fridge forever.
