better than toyotas
grammerpantsApr 1, 2011
Depends what you are looking for I guess. But no, not really.
hiltonizerApr 1, 2011
If you are looking for an automobile, yes, yes really.
nedbigbyssgApr 1, 2011
Despite those recent recalls, I still think Toyotas are one of the most reliable. I've known some old ladies that never changed the oil in their old Corollas and it's still running good.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

And I've known forty or fifty people who have owned their 3.0L toyotas and changed the oil religiously and still gotten an engine full of sludge.

I always buy Ford. I'm not even sure why - but I do!

When was Ford ever on the bottom? There was always Chrysler to take that spot. I've never owned a Ford, always had GM cars. But the new Fords do look pretty slick. My first choice if I was buying today would be a Buick LaCrosse, though the Chevy Camaro or Impala are nice cars too.

look old man ford sucks end of conversation

It's about more than looks. When I was growing up, GM vehicles is what we had. They were crap. The interior would go to s**t within a month. Mechanical problems would start up after 2 years or so. One car started to lose its paint pretty much to the day the factory warranty stopped; the air conditioner broke a month later.
I've since owned, Mazda (made by Ford), Ford, Toyota, and another Ford. The only problems I had was an automatic transmission issue in the Mazda, and it had 65k+ miles on it when I bought it.
GM would have to prove to me they're treating quality seriously before I spend $20-30k on one of their vehicles.
portnoyApr 1, 2011
I can't blame you for that. All I can say is that the GM cars I've had since the early '80's have served me well. Right now I'm driving a 2001 Monte Carlo with 130+k miles and it is a super car. I like that car so much that I dread the day when I have to replace it.
prolikewhoaApr 1, 2011
I bought an 08 Edge. Then I bought a 10 Fusion! I love both!

I love my year-old Taurus. It gets the same gas mileage as my Subaru did, and it's roomier, quieter, & more comfy...and I can tell my stereo what music to play (Sync rocks!).
hiltonizerApr 1, 2011
I've had and abused 3 Mustangs... never a problem with any of them. Had my F150 a few years now after the lack of practicality of a Mustang in New England got the better of me.
Just picked up a Focus a few weeks ago to commute with, in since gas was killing me commuting 100 miles a day in my truck.
I've at some point had to put a small fortune in to every other car i've owned, none all that old, and all the Fords have been the most comfortable and most reliable.

People are suckers for Ford's new marketing stratregy. Some of their commercials are ridiculous. Especially the ones where people are "trading up" to a Ford from their old luxury cars.Comment is buried, click here to see the rest.

Now if they could just bring the Focus RS to America...
dagreenmanApr 1, 2011
probably because for the first time in forever, they are making damn good cars.
vertigosfxApr 1, 2011
Good for Ford. In my opinion they are probably the best automaker in the industry.
Philly_mktgApr 1, 2011
Its good to here that Ford leaps in owner loyalty. It just show how strong they are.
scabnabbitApr 1, 2011
I may get bashed for this, but GM has sucked for me. No love there. Also (for me) Chryslers were just BAD.
With Fords (specifically the non-GT Mustangs in the 80s-90s), they weren't perfect, but they were "The Enemy You Knew," and therefore workable from that standpoint.
Plus you weren't looking at a strange part that was incredibly expensive; everyone and their mom could get it. (And in some cases, install it.) Driving a Ford now. Will likely get another in a few years.
archangel21xApr 1, 2011
I had a bad experience with a Ford Tempo. Because of that bad experience, I have no desire to ever own a Ford again no matter how good the reviews are. Give me a Toyota or Honda any day over Ford.
gkiltzApr 1, 2011
Not asking for government help was a big boost in the financially conservative Midwest, where Fords have always done well because of their reputation for starting on cold days when nothing else will.
bcm79Apr 3, 2011
If only you could still buy an AMC Rambler or a real Jeep CJ. But Ford has been making some very good small cars lately, pushing the technology of direct-injection engines.
